Staying at the flamingo in may. Looking for off the beaten path things to do, see, eat and play. We will have a car. I've been in practically every casino from the mega resorts to dive casinos. From the strip to downtown to off strip and primm. Looking for new things or something different, maybe places only locals know about. Going a monday thru Saturday so have plenty of time. tia

Are you looking for off the beaten track casinos? Or other things that are not casino related to do? A bit more information on what you're looking for might help get you better recommendations.

I always suggest museums because Vegas has a ton of them that are informative and fun like Mob Museum, Erotic Heritage Museum, Atomic Energy Museum, etc.

ps. i mentioned this in another thread.... we planned to do this three weeks ago but it wasn't going to be open until october, but we did see the strip mall where there headquarters are(near the railroad museum} is located..... the tracks follow the highway and you end up
    near the railroad pass casino.

I assume you've already done the High Roller & the rides at The STRAT .
    Pinball HOF?
    Hoover Dam?
    Grand Canyon?
    Valley of Fire?
...go to the "restaurant" section here on VMB & get some ideas of some of the better "local" eateries.
    Good luck!

For adventurous eating try China/Korea town. Lots of places where the dishes are off the beaten path.

There's the Worlds Biggest Indoor Swap meet somewhere on Decatur but I think only open on Saturdays.

I know when my wife and I go with our Brother and Sister in-law we rent a car and just get lost. We explore all the local strip malls with all the little knick knack stores and eateries.

We make a stop at the IKEA warehouse in Summerlin. Lots of crap to look at.

I forget the name of the lounge/VP bar located next to the front entrance of the Orleans but we like to stop by every now and then and listen to the local bands that happen to be playing. Sit down, have a few ( or more) drinks, and dance. Lots of locals hang out there.

Clark County Outdoor Shooting Range in North LV. It is a large facility and relatively cheap for both lane use and gun rentals.

Check out local community events / spots at Summerlin, Green Valley Ranch, Town Square

    Non gambling drive.

The Red Rock visitor centre and scenic drive is nice and has plenty of short hikes from the stop off points. Moving on from there, Spring Mountain Ranch is a nice little place and you can hike a few trails from there too. From there you can drive to Blue Diamond, a village just off the same road. Carry on from there to Silverton and see the big store at the side of the casino and the mermaid swimming in the aquarium. They also have a few customised bikes around the casino area if you’re into that. After all that, you deserve a little gamble in the Silverton casino.

NFC mentioned a behind the scenes tour of the Flamingo that sounded interesting. It is off the beaten path right where you are.

Pioneer Saloon in Goodsprings - I haven't been there yet, but it's on my "to do" list.
    http://www.pioneersaloon.info

Pahrump Valley Winery - They have tours of their winery and a restaurant onsite. There are 2 legal brothels in Pahrump too (Sheri's Ranch and the Chicken Ranch), if you want to check them out. LOL

Mt. Charleston and the Lodge - It's a nice scenic drive from Vegas to Mt. Charleston. The Lodge is also owned by Ellis Island and they have a restaurant.
