I know many of the new slots have a charging port to charge your iPhone while playing. I just upgraded to a new iPhone 11 Pro Max. My question, is the charging port on the slots USB or USB-C?

All the ones I've seen are USB-A. So, you will need a USB-A to USB-C cable. Does the iPhone 11 come only with a USB-C to USB-C?

Looks like a USB lighting cable will work. Phone comes with USB-C. Not sure if I will need to carry a cable, new battery seems to last all day, I haven't gotten below a 70% charge per day in a week.

I don't trust those things at all. Not plugging my phone into the casino system.

When I go to Vegas I bring a portable charger. I let the phone drain, go back to the hotel and plug in the phone while I play downstairs at the hotel casino. About 30-45 minutes later the phone is charged enough for the night and I can go get it be on my way.

That's a good option to consider.

Check out Micro Center, Amazon, etc. for external battery packs, which come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. I picked up a small one a couple years ago that I only take on casino trips and no longer worry about charging during the day or running out of juice.

I try to get one that has a similar shape and size to my phone. I can then put them back to back and keep it in my pocket without being an inconvenience.

I have one but it’s larger, I have to get a smaller one, the one I have is too heavy to be carrying around. Thanks

I recently replaced my older power bank with a new one from Anker which is about the same size/thickness of my iPhone X. It has both a USB-A and USB-C port, so you can use the cable that came with your new iPhone 11. It also delivers 18W via the USB-C port which is the same as the iPhone charger.

One of the great joys for me in Vegas is leaving the phone in the room when I go out at night. The bouncers always look surprised when they frisk me at the clubs, but I have so much more fun in IRL.

You’re not necessarily plugging it into the casino’s system (& if you were, their shit is pretty secure so....), but that being said there’s a security risk with anything like that today. There’s a security risk with public WiFi like McDonald’s and Starbucks - people still use it. and if everyone were to get hacked, they’d shut it down.

Obviously there’s risk, but I’ve used these charging systems with no problem. The one machine I used it on at Bally’s was pretty fast! I also take security precautions with the type of information and apps I keep on my smartphone (not a lot).

I leave my phone in the room when in vegas. Do it most times at home too. I am not expecting a call so if they really need to get ahold of me, they can leave a message, I might call them cack.

This approach has never once failed me in my life, Plus, I do not have to worry about carrying an expensive thing around with me while I am trying to have fun.

I like poker rooms that enable charging at the table.

My phone is my security. I've a questionable heart and a phone is a 911 call away for help to arrive. So far ~ knock wood, I've not used it for that purpose.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. @SMG Amazon gets my attention daily, if I can't find a smaller one I know I have will order Anker Power Core, looks like I can have it tomorrow.

Yeah, output ports are almost universally USB-A. Same with just about every battery pack I've seen. Not to mention, you'll be able to charge your phone but it almost certainly won't put out enough power to charge a laptop or something like that.

Speaking of USB ports on casino equipment, I read an online news article several years ago about 2 casino employees (in a non-Vega casino, forget the name) who got caught with a laptop plugged into the USB port of a Shuffle Master shuffler, trying to hack into it. They were unsuccessful and wound up in a lot of legal hot water. I did not think to keep the link. I mentioned this story during some table talk at my local and one of the pit critters heard me and actually looked under the shuffler at that table and was surprised to find it actually had a USB port.

I assume it is there for updating the shuffler with new games.

Our local systems geeks have us trained to not use any "public" USB ports for charging. They are more concerned with over-voltage and such. In my almost-always-packed carry-on travel bag I have a bag of cables and chargers and the like and I just find an outlet in the hotel room and plug this in and charge things at night. LOL, if I remember to plug them in.

I do carry a charged power stick in the event the phone or the netbook runs down on an airport layover or something. I also got a spare battery and battery charger for the new smartphone.
