Would you rather be lucky at the beginning of trip - or end of trip?

Couple of years ago, my wife hit a royal in the first hour we were gambling. Paid for the trip right off the bat, then we were able to relax, and both of us did well even after that.

For me, this is the perfect scenario.

The beginning. The dream would be to double my triproll early on. I’d lock up the initial trip money and then go hard with the rest. I don’t gamble scared but it doesn’t mean I don’t mean I don’t get annoyed at a bad run.

The people that are playing in full on ‘fuck it’ mode always seem to have the best fun. Plus when you push your bets that’s obviously when it can go from being good to amazing. If I could actually play the purple chip my daily loss limit / theo says I could, rather than my bankroll says I can, that could get pretty awesome pretty fast, I’ve flatbet to a 20 unit downswing in 25 minutes so it’s got to be possible the other way right?

At the end it’d be a ‘save’ to stop me going home cranky.

Beginning of trip so I can go crazy gambling without worrying about the bankroll.

Definitely the beginning of the trip. Then I can relax and just play, and get as aggressive as I want to. If I start out losing, then I am grinding and table-hopping the entire trip, which takes the fun out of shooting craps.

Count me as one of those who'd enjoy being lucky anytime, but if I have to choose, I'd prefer towards the end. My visits are generally just a couple days and gambling really doesn't occupy a large percentage of my time... maybe 15-20%. If I go on a nice run early, I'll almost certainly give it back... the whole, "hey, I'm playing on house-money" thing. I admire those who'd go to the bank, but unless I have the good fortune of hitting say $5K or more, that's not likely to happen with me.

Beginning. I think I would be more relaxed and gamble more. I'm a low roller and if my money goes too quickly I get a bit frustrated that my gambling didn't last as long as I had hoped. If I won big at the beginning I would have more money to gamble with, and while I would still be controlled, I would just have adapted limits and have more gambling time. If I won really big, then I would splurge on some things during the trip too.

The beginning.....last year I hit a $15k handpay at Aria less than three hours from when I checked in. Great to play with casino money the rest of week.

Ummm, really the middle. I SHOULD have some bankroll left in the middle of a trip, and then could gamble the rest of the trip without fear of busting/ATM ect, all while locking up the original bankroll and some profit.

That's what happened on my summer trip - I was down about $1k of my $3k bankroll and hit a royal at Luxor for $5376. The remaining BR and much of the royal got locked up, leaving me about $2k for the rest of the trip. Felt good.

Years ago I hit $4k at the Mirage on a slot an hour into the trip and the whole rest of the trip everyone looked at me to pick up the dinner tab, cover the cab rides, hotel charges ect.

Definitely at the beginning. A few years ago I hit a slot machine for $1500 on day 1. It’s much more fun knowing I was playing with the casinos money for the rest of the trip and brought all of my bankroll home.

I have never been lucky at the beginning of the trip........ Would love to be in that situation.

I guess I will add to the chorus and say beginning. As many times as I have tried to resist, I know I am going to chase if I go down. If I win big at the start, I am less likely to keep gambling. Plus, if I am going to lose big, I would rather it be at the end of the trip so I will have had a couple fun days first

I always prefer a big win on a the beginning of the trip. I eat much better when I’m up, go to more shows, spend more time at the pool. When I’m losing I’ll eat sandwiches at Earl of a Sandwich and start to sweat my bets a bit more. Either way I’m in Vegas so who cares. They’ll take all my money eventually.

I vote for a good start. I play differently and have more fun if I get ahead early. Digging out from an opening mudslide isn’t as much fun. But, I also judge my trips in their entirety, and year to year, so start or finish is less important. Happily, I’ve averaged slightly better than the odds say I should have. Still, I love starting fast. Vroom, I say-rack ‘em up!

I was down my last hundred on my last trip and came home almost even. On prior trips when I've come ahead early, I gave it back. So yeah, end of trip is the way to go! Lol
