I finally bit the bullet and booked my trip to vegas in September. I was talking to a friend who makes a trip or two a year and she was telling me how her and her husband get comped suites at the Stratosphere . Because I mentioned my girlfriend enjoys the tubs at Aria she was telling me she could probably hook me up with her host at stratosphere and maybe I could get a room with a Jacuzzi since my coin in is more than her and the husband and they get a Jacuzzi room almost every trip. Ive only visited the stratosphere a couple times to meet up with friends staying there and I can say it wasn't a place I think id enjoy staying. I used to be a smoker and while usually it doesn't bother me it was pretty thick in the casino (girlfriend cant stand smoke), Also more than once random people came up to me while I was playing craps or blackjack asking for chips and telling me sad stories how they had kids and lost their money. I would have thought the dealers would have done something but in any case just killed the mood for me, so I nicely declined her offer to ask her host to contact me.

Im sure I know the answer as most I get from mlife is 4-5 days at the lower end resorts and 3-4 at aria/Bellagio with FP/RC. but was curious if there are other resorts besides the stratosphere that offer front end suites and the type of coin in it would take? My coin in varied over the last 5-6 years, I used to make 3-4 trips a year for 3-5 days and my trip coin in wasn't very high. now with my girlfriend im down to 1 or 2 a year with much higher coin in and much better comps. I know everyone says its not a good idea to chase comps, but I go with the understanding I could blow my entire bankroll in the casino so maybe its time to take my play somewhere that it will go further for a lower roller like me. Aria is still by far my favorite place to stay, but if I can spoil the misses and get it comped somewhere else I feel like a winner! even if I paid out the rear gambling on my last trip

I can offer only a little help. But its hard to answer your questions because you're not providing the relevant information. What is your actual coin in? And where are you staying these days (those low end mlife properties, or the upper end ones you mentioned)?

Getting a suite comped upfront is routine if your play justifies it. If you're asking whether you can get a suite comped upfront with no play history, probably not. Maybe if you have a history with a host at the property and send a lot of front money, but that's still probably not going to get it. Your best bet is to identify lower end properties with the most suites and increase your play there. I would suggest going to Luxor or NYNY, playing double your typical coin-in, and then get a host. That should be enough to get you on their radar to request a suite upfront on your next trip

IMHO, it also depends on what OP classifies as a "suite". There have been many discussions on whether or not the standard rooms at Venetian/Palazzo or Wynn/Encore qualify as "suites", or does it really need to be two rooms separated by a wall.

Not familiar with the "suites" at Stratosphere, so I can't comment much further than that.

I appreciate the you responding. Im not expecting a upgrade with no play up front. I was thinking of switching my play this trip to see if future trips would be beneficial. Im staying at the aria this trip but could hop over to somewhere else if it would possibly put me in the level of getting a suite in the future. Looking at my coin in for my last few trips I only made 1 trip a year for 3 days and did 11k coin in on the low and 18k coin in on the high. The high trip I was going for a hand pay and told the gf id be spending more time in the casinos. Id imagine with the same bankroll and with any luck id probably be 14k-15k coin in. I was just curious to what kind of coin in would put you on that level. that would also give me an idea of the bankroll I should bring with me.

good point, i have never seen the rooms at the stratosphere so i guess it is an open ended question. I guess it just got me in the "if they are getting a suite, can i get a suite" mindset. another wormhole entered!

Aria is one of the tighter places to get good comps.
Though I do not play at Strat, I would expect things are much easier there vs Strat. But, as said, not on your first visit.

Guess it depends on where you want to stay and play.

And yes, the term suite is used poorly in Vegas. Many are just larger rooms, and do not have doors to bedroom.

If you're willing to up your coin-in and bankroll to attempt to score a comp suite, why not just book a nice suite and play as usual? Your normal play with dictate what you've earned. You may or may not get it comped on the back-end, but can at least just get a nice discount on it. With MLIFE you can also use your tier discount.

If you're just trying to spoil the misses, IMO you should just book a terrace room at the Cosmo or a room at the Wynn. Those basic rooms at those places are nicer than many of the suites that most properties have. Just my .02.

I guess i was looking for more of an excuse or justification to take more money to gamble.. as cooler heads prevail i went and looked up the suite and it was not what i expected. its literally a Jacuzzi in the middle of a regular room. But the bragging rights was probably what had me most interested at trying to get a comp suite somewhere. I want to be included in the suite comp club hahaha. the cheapest way would obviously be to just pay for it, ive never gotten back end comps, i usually just book the offers i get emailed. I think the new plan is play my normal bankroll at Aria because its still my favorite and try and match my bankroll to give some money to Cosmo on this next trip. No need for the suite, just see if i can get some offers from cosmo.

For me, $700 minimum is too much to pay for any hotel room (let alone Las Vegas).

The STRAT is a weird bird. I stayed the night once, 5 years ago. I followed a host buddy of mine from Fremont over there. One night of gambling, all slots, about $8K coin in and the best offer I got to come back was $100 in free play.

The same play gets me 3-4 times that at Treasure Island. Ever CET & MGM offer me at least double that.

They were generousness with rooms, I could have one of their dated suites whenever i wanted. But the return comps, for that place in that location, did nothing to get me back in the door.

There is stuff to do there, but I felt too far away from the action to feel like I was on vacation.

The Strat is a cool property, but funny enough how one poster mentioned people coming up to you with their sob stories, I had a guy try to sell me a fake Rolex there once.

While they do have real suites, don't expect anything like you would get at Aria, or even Harrah's.

Frankly, if you want a comped true suite, Luxor is where you should be playing. I get roughly the same comps as you 3-4 nights at Aria and Bellagio, 4 nights elsewhere, and Luxor offers me suites, their Tower Premier Deluxe Suite included comped. This is 1,200 sq/ft with 1.5 bathrooms. You won't get a jetted tub, they took the jets out years ago, but the renovated rooms and suites are nice for the money.

Thanks Paul. That's the kind of info i was hoping for. I never stayed at the luxor before. I used to stay at Excalibur a bunch when i used to take a bunch of solo trips. I visited once when i was a kid and it was nostalgic to me. now that i get some offers for nicer rooms i figure why not take advantage of it. ill go head down to the luxor and see what happens. Thanks again!

My pleasure. FYI I am Mlife Platinum if that helps things. Primarily my tier credits come from hotel spend.

Note, the best normal suites are in the Towers (I prefer the West Tower). The Pyramid Premier Suite is also really cool. Never stayed in it. Guaranteed high floor, nice decor. Luxor actually did a great job with the renovations. Rooms punch above their weight class. Only downsides to Luxor are the 1.) timeshare hustlers in the common areas. 2.) No jetted tubs 3.) Lame "room service" that ends at like 2 PM. 3.) No stocked mini bars. However, it is a lower end hotel so it doesn't matter so much. Pool is nice though, and I like Pyramid Cafe, plus the easy access to Mandalay Bay/Place.

Ive never made it higher than gold at mlife, and didnt make it to gold on my last trip. Im hoping this will be a good trip and ill be able to hit gold but only the casino gods know the answer to that. The jetted tub isn't a deal breaker, weve never had one before in vegas she just enjoys being able to soak and relax in a tub while were on vacation. When i heard Jacuzzi in the room i thought a cool Jacuzzi in the floor somewhere or something to that sort. but its just a above ground Jacuzzi in the middle of the room. not at all what i was thinking. ill hold off on the bragging rights and just do what i usually do. suite offers or not in the future im sure it will still be a fun trip.

Look at the Tower Spa Suite at MGM Grand or the Resort Tower King at Bellagio. The TSS has a large jetted tub in the bathroom. It is a mini suite. A long time ago I was given one as a free upgrade from a comped Grand King.
The RTK at Bellagio has the jetted tub in front of the window. If you can get comped a regular room, you can probably get this.

That certainly sounds like the Strat!

I copied this out of my trip report there. One of the reasons I wont be back

So,here's the thing about gambling at the Strat. There are a ton of Lookey Lou's everywhere. Every game we played, we both max bet, and every bonus game seemed to draw a crowd. I'm not a social gambler if I don't know you. I don't pump my fist with a great hit. Clap or scream out load. I get happy inside sure. But Walter Payton said "act like you've been there before" so that's my style. Maybe a fist bump to a friend but that's about it.

But here, there is no avoiding the low rolling crowd. We see them stepping away from their .50 cent spins to see whats going on with our party. I'm not a gambling snob. You bet minimum and that works for you, have fun. We all play the way we want.

And as for my suite, here is a picture of the living room straight out of the 90's. They did switch out the TV's to proper flats. but all the furniture (at that time) was still set up for big rear tube TV sets. The small flat screens looked weird in all that space. Not that i give a shit, it isnt like I'm buying the place. But very "Strat" like for sure!

I think one thing to take into consideration if you do get a comped suite is that it will affect any potential back-end comps. I think it's been mentioned before but there's a "value" assigned to rooms, even if comped, so if your room "costs" a lot more as it's a suite, you'll likely get far less back end comps after your trip concludes and they look at your play.

I learned this the hard way when I had a much higher playing trip, had a jr suite comped up front, and the back end comps (if you could even call them that) were paltry at best notwithstanding my higher play due to the assigned value of the comped suite on the front end.

I have never got back in comps, I thought that front desk would give it to me on check out but after reading the forum that's not the case. I guess im not sure who to talk to about it so its never happened. usually i just use the F&B credits to take off my final bill.

Grid, I checked out the full trip report and that was probably the awesomest thing ive read in a while. I will probably be reading the rest when time permits haha. my level of play is no where near what youre dishing out and after reading your trip report i doubt id qualify for a suite after seeing how much play you put out there. I think Strat just gives me a weird vibe and its not enjoyable there. aria i feel great even if the casino is kicking me in the balls. I seem to smile and take it. ill just stick to what ive been doing but id like to venture outside of the Mlife resorts. ive only stayed at Mlife or the venetian. I was thinking of taking a 10k bankroll and using half for Aria and spread the other half between cosmo and maybe paris just to see if luck will help me get some type of comp. Im sure that's not enough unless i get really lucky at cosmo, but maybe enough for Paris? Not trying to pry into your bankroll or methods, but if you got any tips im all ears.

Some properties will evaluate your play upon request through the players club desk, but usually you'll track down the host office and speak to the host on duty. They may (or may not) assign you a host for future visits at that time.
