I'm hoping this is fun thread! Many of us buy new clothes/shoes for Vegas, but I'm sure we've ALL had purchases that sounded great at the time, but you later realized were a flop.

My latest one. Bought these for Vegas, thought they'd be cute/fun/Vegasy.

I never could bring myself to wear them, just too blingy for me.

Do you have any pics/descriptors of Vegas clothes that seemed like a great idea, but you realized we're not?

Thank you so much @Vegas28m for someone else they'd be cute! I just always veer towards black strappy heels. This is one of my go-to Vegas pairs.

Like @Jesse I always buy a few things, but have my outfits I always wind up wearing in Vegas, and they always are lots of black.

But, I've bought plenty of "what the heck was I thinking" items :)

I just realized I have one favorite pair of pants (Pockets FTW!) that I always wear and they fit, so just ordered two more and some SPF summer shirts (more pockets!).
I did buy a corny over the top vegas gambling shirt (100s/cards/dice all over it) in that sad binions swap meet back, that my better half subtly banned me from wearing in her company.
Kind of same thing with a fat fake gold cuban link necklace I got from amazon for cheap.. I kind of like it because I will get a good laugh if anyone tries to steal it.

when we were leaving this last trip, my gf actually had an elevator conversation after she complimented a ladys blingy sandals, the lady was like "I would never wear this when I was younger", then the conversation went to the mutual agreement that the older you get, the more you want to draw attention away from (insert appropriate hand movement) "all this".

Getting dressed up in suit and tie for a night out sounds like a fun thing to do. When it's 112 in the shade, not so much.

Haha, there IS a vein of truth to this. Maybe this is why bling is now catching my eye... I'm not quite there yet... but getting closer! ;)

I don’t have any supportive walking shoes. My feet are actually pointed so I am most comfortable in pointed toed flats. Most supportive shoes are round toed don’t fit as well. I was at Nordstrom Rack and saw a pair of coach moccasins. I tried them on and they felt good. Cheap, supportive, and comfy...perfect for Vegas. I’m old, I know not to wear new shoes in Vegas so I broke them in prior to leaving. Working from home I don’t do a ton of walking other than Costco every few weeks. I wear them on travel day and by the next day the big toe nail on my left foot looked black and blue. About a month or so later it fell off. Never wore those shoes again.

Beside that I’ve bought a few sequined shirts that seemed very Vegasy that I wouldn’t wear anywhere else. I’ve worn a few but 50% ended in the donate bin because they were too flashy for me. They are always purchased them at discount places in the pre Vegas I can do or wear anything excitement.

There are no bad clothes or shoes for Vegas.
Every thing is appropriate, particularly those not appropriate at other places.
People wearing fancy wedding gown play craps & slots, eat at buffets,
or wearing bikini walk on the street, perfectly normal for Vegas.
On the other side, people wear dirty dusty construction/plumbing worker clothes playing at the same table.

Wearing a black T-shirt in the sun when it's 110 degrees. Lawrence of Arabia togs are more appropriate.

Continuing the shoe theme, I’ve learned to never bring new shoes of any type to Las Vegas. Ever.

And, never bring any pants or shorts which are even slightly snug at home. It’s a bad idea for me, anyway, because lots of good eating is always a Johnny Las Vegas priority.

Yesterday I had a little over 18,000 steps-that should explain why I make sure of shoes before I mark them Vegas approved. And, we had the Sunday brunch at Wynn. Enough said about not starting out with snug pants.

Finally, even though I still have some very nice ties, I do not bring them. If you do not have a necessary work reason to wear a tie in Las Vegas, don’t even think about it. Well, maybe a wedding.........

Just for you, or for everyone at the slot pull? :poke:

New shoes are never a good idea in Vegas. Also, cute shoes. Cute shoes never seem to be comfortable for me anymore. So I typically end up in my running shoes with the good orthotics, or the "dressy" sketchers if I'm not walking outside my home casino. (The sketchers are not sparkly, just plain black ones I have not yet worn in my garden.)

I often buy shirts I think are "so Vegas", usually involving many sequins or sparkly bits. Then I feel like a weirdo wearing a bright purple shirt with a giant pink sequined flamingo on the front. Oh, I'm gonna wear it, but if someone looks at me sideways, I'll either give them the finger, or go cry in the nearest restroom, depending on the quantity of liquor I've had that day. :goofy:

I'm a creature of habit and I'm headed to the store later today to buy another pair of the shorts and capris I bought last summer. Because they are so comfortable, I needed a backup. It's going to be in the 90's in the PNW this week and I'm pretty sure I may melt.

This pic is from a meetup at the old Imperial Palace. He played in the casino in boxers and nobody batted an eye.
