Wynn in talks to sell Encore Boston to MGM

Massachusetts won’t lower the fine. If anything they will fine them a lot more to allow them to sell. Of course they won’t call it a fine. I live near Boston. Hard to believe that Wynn spent eight years and upwards of 3 billion dollars to enter this market only to sell at last minute. The hotel is an exact replica of Wynn and Encore in Vegas. Would look pretty funny slapping a MGM sign on it. Also room rates are 6-7 hundred dollars a night. That won’t fly around here. I think they will come down quickly.

I am baffled that they are surprised at how Massachusetts is treating them. Its not the most business friendly state.

 

Yeah, but every other state has been welcoming and accepting of casinos so they're probably like why is this different. I personally don't think they like Wynn's leadership team and don't care to see them fail. Steve for some reason had the charisma to charm MGC to concede to his whims and vision. He's the ONLY person to succeed in working with the PRC. I hate to say it, but Wynn Resorts isn't looking too hot and I think Maddox may need to go.

First they break "talks" with Crown Resorts and now this. So aloof! What's wrong with Wynn. I wont stop visiting them because of any changes in service but because their leadership is appalling

 

Maddox definitely needs to go. He is a huge dud on their quarterly earnings calls. I know Steve had to go but this guy is not even close to being a visionary leader. They need someone new.

 

At least for now it does. MGM pulled out because the mayor of Everett said "fuhgeddaboudit." I don't really know what kind of appeal process exists, but I'm kind of assuming Wynn can take the MGC to court over offending provision if it wants to.

 

I agree 100%....Glad the deal is off (for now anyway) but Maddox needs to go. He's an ex bean counter/banker and has no business running Wynn.

 

As far as being a visionary, he's not even in the same building as Steve Wynn.

they will be bringing in employees on june 3 with a hard opening on june 23, but i wouldn't be surprised if there is a soft opening a day or two before .
