I agree with the "move the obstruction and which way would the dice land" logic, and I think the casinos look at it this way as well. But in the picture above, the dice is pinned between the wall and the other dice - so which is the obstruction? If you move the wall, you get a 7 as you said. If you move the other dice, you get an 8. I think this should have been a "no roll" if the roll in question exactly matched what La$Vega$ has recreated in the photo above.

 

My guess is that a die is never considered the obstruction.

 

In my view, anytime & every time the dice fail to both land flat on the table, it should be a "no roll".
It's been my experience that this is exactly what the pit calls, every time, unless it can be perceived as a "7-out"...then - every time - it's called a "7-out".

 

It seemed as if stick made his rule and own call.

The dice should fall toward the felt and towards the other dice flat to the felt (it was also more leaning toward the flat dice)
That would have made it an 8.

The kicker is he did not wait for the dealer (who should make the call & who is closer) and then hopefully consult the boxman, which he did not.

Stick just called 7 out and quickly hauled them in.

If this ever occurs on your table and you see the stick calling it a 7 and you have doubt, tell them to STOP and get a ruling as quick as you can!

 

I know it could fall under the "surly/rude dealers" category but I am also not a fan of the dealers, boxman etc. paying very little attention to the game and having an ongoing "private" discussion amongst all of them while the game is ongoing.

They can talk what and when they want, but when I want to place a bet and have to interrupt the "riveting" conversation about which dealer "wants" which guest or other dealer, and then I get an attitude from said dealer, that is a problem................

 

People who throw a wad of cash on the table when the puck is on and it’s a good shooter

 

And don't forget the usual, dice bounces off the cash and it seems usually into a 7-out!

 

Interesting to note that Surly/Rude/Unfriendly Craps staff is in the lead at 53% and holding steady.........

There are some amazing Craps crews but clearly many others take the enjoyment of the game away from more than half of us............

 

I’d add inconsistent staff too. I’ve seen dice roll on top of their chips they have and they go “no roll”....

Then I’ve seen them call it a 7-out on the same type of roll.

 

My pet peeve is when I have the dice and roll a PSO which makes everyone lose (including me), then a player gives me the "stink-eye" or guff as if I intended to lose money for everyone right away. For goodness sake, I did not want to roll a point-seven so cut me some slack.

 

I have noticed this more at locals than in Vegas.....the regulars at some of locals tend to chastise shooters who have a history of PSO......The chant of "pass the dice" happens when the dice comes to those shooters.

 

PSO-shaming, lol.

 

My response is usually: "I just throw 'em, God picks the numbers."

 

When the table's hot and they decide they want to rearrange the chips for 10 minutes. Then the table gets cold and I walk away. You never see them do it when the table's cold!

For me, rude players are by far the worst. If the dealers are jerks, it'll be pretty obvious pretty quick and I'll just find another table.

What's frustrating to me is when you've got a table full of people having a good time and someone rolls up and starts causing problems...the staff gets sour, the players get sour, one bad egg can kill the whole vibe. You can still color up and go elsewhere, but it's like you're sitting there enjoying a nice meal in a restaurant and someone walks up and spits on your entree.

On the flipside, I've never really understood why people making lots of bets and slowing the game down a bit bothered people so much...what's the rush? Half the fun of craps is the camaraderie of a table of people playing together. I like to soak it in, enjoy the characters and the personalities, the rush of speculation as a shooter gets hot and bets start flying. And I say this as someone who generally doesn't touch the prop bets...

 

^^ this happened the other night to me. Table is mostly full, having a great time. Out of nowhere some ****** kid in a newsie hat rushes up, sees the point is 10, throws 3 bills on the table and spits at the dealer: “$220 inside!!” Super anxious and weird. Two rolls later the shooter sevens out and you’d think the shooter actually shot this kid in the face. Hands up disgusted, talking to himself. Next shooter PSO. Kid goes bananas. Within what seemed to be 5 minutes after the table was colored up and done.

 

I think we can all agree that a rude player can completely ruin the vibe of the table, at a local casino I've had a fella come up and try to skip my turn on throwing, after I'd been at the table for sometime, he just walked up with a larger bankroll and threw it on the table and almost instantly assumed it was his turn? Also I don't think it's been said, but at the same local casino new players will casually bring up shooting a 7. Last time I visited it happened quite often, I know it has nothing to do with the actual chances of throwing a 7, it just threw the entire vibe of the table off!

 

1) I think the bad/rude staff is a greater impact at a local where at times there is nowhere else to go. You are "stuck" at that casino, or go home! If it is Vegas there are a million options and in my experience I have had a lot less rude staff in Vegas just because the option to grab your chips and go elsewhere is just minutes away!

2) I think the "rush" is when you have a "hot shooter" you want them to throw as often as possible in as quick a time as possible. That is the superstition....lol

 

This is mine. If/when I play the dark side there's always some ahole that wants to fight me. I never get obnoxious playing the dark side. Just make my bets and collect on a cold table. However, i'll definitely respond in kind if provoked. No one on any table/VP/Slot/Sports bet will ever tell me how to spend/gamble my money without me responding.
