This is brilliant. Got a call from a Planet Hollywood host a few weeks again trying to solicit business. I call back shes on vaca, I tried to get another host as instructed by voice mail but gave up and decided to wait until she came back. So now I have left 3-4 messages on her on days and still no return call. Yesterday left message that I have flight booked for next Friday and obviously need a call back. Still nothing. What is wrong with some of these people?

I am certainly now going to request that that host be taken off my account.

BTW I don't think you can even use the word host with most I have met from Ceasars Ent, they are more like "miserable clerks".

They went fishing cold calling and filled their quota with bigger players presumably.

If that original call was a "cold call" - they were going down their lists and calling lots of folks. then all of a sudden they get lots of call backs and are swamped. Or if new... maybe she washed out and is no longer there?

    Email?

Just e-mailed my host for a CP room with all info he needed. 4 days later he e-mailed back and asked what he could do for me. I copied and pasted from the org e-mail and replied. 3 days later he said he was still working on it. 3 more days and said I have the room on those days. It wasn't the right room so we started all over again.

And they wonder why MGM properties get all the business. Actually I dont think they care.

Not a cold call dealt with her in the past.

I will call the general # tomorrow and book, the hosts are useless anyways, just figured it would be easier for her to scour through my offers and pick the best one. I already have Corner suite at Aria this was just for whatever free play or gift cards going on at the time.

My husband's host is at PH & we have been very happy with him.

He's responsive and takes care of things quickly. If he's out of the office when my husband contacts him, he texts him and tells him I'll take care of you when I get back.

Now his host in Cherokee is the polar opposite. So typically if he can't reach him, he just calls the VIP hotline or goes online and books the room himself.

We have had 2 hosts at Vegas in the last 5 years. Hunter was our host until he left the business and was great. We then got a new host and have been very happy. Both are senior executive hosts. Amy gets back with us in a short period and handled all of our needs promptly and professionally.
Was it a host that reached out or a executive casino sales person saying he was a host. That does happen as we had a cold call from a casino “host” from a place we haven’t been and the call came from Planet Hollywood. He ended by saying to book our next trip to Vegas through him. We got a hold of Amy and asked if we were removed from her book and boy was she pissed. Next time ask their title.

The hosts on off-strip properties are much more customer friendly.

Had this happen on a few occasions, which is why I no longer deal with a host.

I got a host recently but have done nothing with him since I am happy with what I can do on my own. It's immediate satisfaction when I book as I see fit, without waiting for someone. Since all is comped already on my own for suites, I haven't used him. But in the future, if I decide to use him for anything, does anyone know anything about Doug of CET properties (I won't use last names as I'm not sure if I should put him out there like that)?

Called the main # got what I needed handled quick. I know most hosts are useless at ceasars unless of course your a whale. I will still ask that that host be removed from my account.

    Good luck with that..
I had a host that did the very similar thing. No response for weeks and when my trip was less then a few weeks away, I called and asked who the hosts reported to and to speak with them. (the title was director of something).
I did 1 call and MANY e-mail's before asking to speak to the boss. In my opinion there is NO reason to not reply to an e-mail within 3 business days unless they are on holidays and if that is the case they should have an out of office message set. (The response can be "I just got back and will take a look at this next week" but no reason to not reply at all).
They were very apologetic and "assigned" me a new host. The "New host" set up my next trip and when I was on the property my "Old" host came by to see if there was anything I needed.
I asked why he would be checking in on me and he said he does it with all his "better" clients.

I called and asked why he thought I was still his client and they said "We don't actually code you to anyone differently but we can ensure you do not have to go thru him anymore" When I kept asking questions as to what that meant.. it basically meant that while I would not have to deal with him.. he would still get credit for my play. I still get generic e-mails from him to this day.. The event happened probably 3 years ago.

I was very unhappy with this and that is when I started checking out other properties like Cosmo, Venetian and Downtown.
I still do stay at Caesars properties enough to keep my diamond status but that is it.. So because of this my play went from 95% of my casino budget going to Caesar's to about 35%.
And honestly my Offers are still the exact same.

I had a misunderstanding with the Cosmo host but he was quick to fix it and always replied quickly.. (honestly he was over the top.. and replying within an hour to every e-mail I sent)
I never met him when on my one and only trip he did for me and 2 days after I returned I was informed he was no longer with the company and they assigned me a new host.
I never received a host at Venetian. I was assigned to a number of hosts downtown and all of them have been decent as well.

Caesar's Vegas has the worst hosts by far in my opinion.
My Host at Caesar's Windsor is quick to reply and answer questions.
That said.. because of how Caesar's lets you do almost everything a host can do by yourself online (and not have to worry about them messing it up) there is no reason to deal with one.

Yeah I would want her name removed mostly so she doesn't make money off me if she is on commission structure. She completely failed.

I was just at Harrahs New Orleans and I can tell you it is the same. Seems no one likes there job and is basically an on the move Total Rewards Clerk. I remember how much different they were 10 years ago, when they could actually do good things, and I was 7* during those better times and got plenty of great benefits. Ceasars is by far the tightest group out there along with Boyd.

I very much think these threads turn into a bash the host fest from bad hosts, but I think all hosts are more of a YMMV approach. My host is incredibly responsive and takes care of my requests fairly simply. He has never really gone crazy above and beyond but I also don't ask for anything crazy either. I like having the relationship, because I email him the night before check out to review my play and before I am checked out my bill is settled. The one time it wasn't, it was resolved about 45 minutes after check out. It eliminates the leg work of trying to deal with the host on duty every time.

I think my play has me in that spot where the room comps are automatic, but the food comps need to be earned and aren't given up front. Since I don't plan to increase my play, I benefit from the host.

That being said, 3 days without a reply, including auto reply, is lunacy.

Caesar's is actually not that "tight" when you look at how easy it is to get free rooms from them.
Caesar's Hosts are so limited in what they can do that it feels tighter then it really is.

This is probably the biggest reason we see this more and more especially with CET.
CET has the best online "self service" portal out of every casino I have seen.
It must be hard for casino hosts to get excited about the job when they can not offer you anything that you can not see for your self on the website. I am sure Whales might be able to get special things not listed on the site but for the average Diamond or lower.. all they can do it make the process more difficult (Calling them or e-mailing them is more time consuming then just booking it yourself on the site).

MGM Corp is good about this as most of the hosts have Assistants that take care of all the "grunt" work of booking the room reservation, limos, show tickets, etc. I email the assistant directly to get everything taken care of same day The host gets buried doing all this menial work, so they farm it out to the assistant. If a good host has between 500-1000 players, that is a lot of emails about booking rooms, changes, requests, etc. Maybe CZR hosts do not have assistants? The host job should be to take care and look after his / her player's that are currently on property. I could easily see if the host also had to book the room, do the dinner reservations, limo times, etc. etc, that would be all they would be doing. I would much rather have my host come up to say Hi, have dinner together, etc, than be in his office all day answering emails
