The latest TripAdvisor reviews for Luxor have got me looking elsewhere even though I’m on comps. How true are those reviews? I’m on a mission to stay at different Mlife properties, already having been at MGM Grand, NyNy, Excalibur, Mirage. Not sure if I should just skip out on Luxor.

    What do they say?

Luxor is better than Excalibur...so if you were ok with Excal then you will be fine with Luxor

I don't blame you for being concerned after looking at a few of them. What I see overall is a whole lot of expectations of the Bellagio from people wanting to pay for Luxor. It ain't perfect, but our experience was totally different from many of those reviews.

Rooms--we stayed in suites in the Tower; all were nice with no issues with the furnishings other than the standard bit of wear and tear (not bad at all).

Casino--some say it is dark but I didn't feel that way at all.

Restaurants--we ate at Public House 2-3 times (some more than others in our group). No complaints.

I wasn't expecting the Aria Sky Suites, I didn't pay for that level of room, and I got what I paid for...plus damn good comps on the back end.

I use TripAdvisor, but always look for other opinions...

A major motivation to post on TripAdvisor is to share dissatisfaction, where most people here are sharing information. I recently stayed in a standard pyramid room and was quite satisfied. I’m sure the in room noise varies based on floor and location. Our room was blocked from the atrium by a support column and was very quiet. The casino layout is the most confusing I’ve seen, so I’d pick a landmark to find my way back out.

I stayed last year and picked it for my stay again this year. I've always liked playing there, so that helps. I also like Public House, Tender, and easy access to Mbay for their food options. It is different, which also a plus in my book.

What type of room are you comped for at Luxor? That would help in getting opinions from members here.

I really think you will be fine at Luxor though. I think the rooms have all been recently renovated as well.

Mandalay and Luxor are connected via the Mandalay Bay shops... You can just book Mandalay if you have comps and walk over to luxor and check it out for yourself...

I don't think it's that bad. And the pool area looks great. You're getting it for free so there's not much of a financial investment if you end up not liking it

My tower premium comped room last year was way nicer than my friends' room at MGM. The only drawback is it's a bit of a walk to the casino but really not bad at all. I like staying at Luxor!

I haven't looked at TA in years, probably a decade, at least, for the very reasons cited above.

Agree with @FullPay ...most people are more willing to take the time to complain versus give kudos.

The one caveat is we did have one member who had a loud neighbor, and they wouldn't move him, but that can happen in any Vegas hotel.

We love Aria and Cosmo but we're giving Luxor a spin next trip, due to the gorgeous new tower rooms. Give it a spin, if you don't like it, dont go back.. .but its worth a try! :D

I hope you'll report back on Luxor, Multi. Sounds like a great way to spend a Vegas trip. :)

Just got back from Excal on a comp. Barely stepped outside either there or Luxor. Sure the rooms are a little beat up but they were perfectly fine. I’m sure Lux is no different.

I love the Excal casino. It’s has a downtown vibe in there.

I just got back from a 3 night stay at Luxor. I was in a Tower Premium room. Room was nice, casino was fun and lively, there is a good variety of dining options, staff is always pleasant. I've always enjoyed my stays there.

The Pyramid rooms and the Tower rooms are like two completely different hotels. The Pyramid is dumpy, the tower is nice.

If you can get tower rooms comped, go for it!

Is this still accurate? I thought I remembered reading that the pyramid rooms have been or are being updated.

Pyramid rooms are far from dumpy. The renovation has been understated.

And if you go during the summer, the AC in the pyramid rooms can’t keep up with the heat.

I have the pyramid king comped but I am waiting for the upgrade email to be sent to me. That or the $20 trick to get into the tower.
