Up and at 'em bitches!!!!! Its VEGAS day. Sitting at home with the tunes cranked doing last minute shit. Suitcase us being fickle as the handle doesn't want to pull out all the way....hmmm...that sounds just a tad nasty!!!! Lol

Getting the this tapatalk crap so you may receive some LIVE updates. No promises, well, because....ALCOHOL happens.

So if you are an old lady like me, no wait, my body thinks it's old, but my mind and heart tell me I'm 30, then instead if the usual shoe porn, you get SOCK PORN...lol. no, but seriously, those old lady/man support socks are great for travel......no kidding

All right, sorry guys. Here's what de-railed the whole semi-live thing. On my 2nd day in Las Vegas my phone totally died. I even missed the meet & at Cosmo. That means no email, Uber, Lyft,, etc. Heck, my kids even thought I probably died in Vegas!!! I didn't even get a new phone until just recently. Can you imagine....no phone in Vegas....GASP, the horror. I finally made it to a Verizon store in Las Vegas, and you know what?? There is NOT one on the strip.

I am now home and my house is in SHAMBLES. I was having a bathroom remodel while I was out and of course, there were a few snafu's. There is dust EVERYWHERE, driving me crazy, but no point in cleaning it until they are completely done!!! And to top it off, right now I have NO BATHROOM at all. I live in a small house and that is my ONLY bathroom. So, you know what that means?? Resorting to primitive methods of.......well, everything.

So, that means, since I have no bathroom I might as well go hang out at the local for the weekend, which is something that DH and I always did anyway. Yeah, we're degenerate like that.

I'll be bringing the computer with and do a re-cap of my trip.

That's nuts. I am planning a bathroom renovation myself in a couple of months, and I will be in the same situation. Will need to leave the house for a while.:cuss:

So, arrived at the local about an hour ago. Kind of busy here tonight as there's a Christmas party for many of the tribal workers. Got a great room thanks to my niece who works at the front desk. :D So now just chillin' in the room having a brewski and waiting for the FB game at 7:00

Had an interesting first night back at home. First off.....NO BATHROOM  as that part of the project was not complete :mad:. I managed to make it work by hitting the convenience store around 9:00 last night for milk and to use the facilities. :haha: So, best thing was to get to bed right after. Was nice to sleep in my own bed after 6 nights in Vegas. :woohoo: Got up this morning and hit Subway for brekkie and again to use the biff. The plumbers were there pronto this morning (they actually woke me up!!). So, I probably had at least a toilet by noon!!! :nworthy:

So, as far as recapping the trip. I will break up by sections, as I had NO PHONE for most of it to even take a few pics, dammit!!!

    TRIP:
Dates: Dec 7-13, (F-Thurs) Some of you have already read, this going to be a solo trip as I lost my hubs to suicide in June. He loved Vegas as much as I did, but obviously, didn't love life as much as I did.:cry:About 3 weeks ago a friend, I'll call her 'C', decided to accompany me, which worked out great and we had a great time. I was little concerned as she had never done Vegas for a long stretch, maybe 3 nights max. So, a couple of weeks ago I invited for lunch and decided to pick her brain and try to learn and understand 'her Vegas style'. Rest be assured, we were very compatible in just about all things.

We flew Allegiant, and probably for the first time ever were delayed in leaving. Honestly, just about every time we have flown on time with the exception of last December and that was due to weather, which I'm really surprised we left at all as they advised no travel. The plane was newer, but I certainly can't say any more comfortable as I thought the seats now compare with those of Frontier. Oh, well..... The flight was smooth and had no turbulance at all. On the way back, the flight left LV on time (around noon) and of course we came back to having snow the day prior!! Go figure. Had about a half hour of turbulance, which I hate since I don't like to fly anyway.

    HOTEL:
First 3 nights were at the Fremont. I decided since this was a 'different' trip for me (first without DH) that I would chose a different hotel. Room was fine. Had a room on the 5th floor back behind the main part. Had to go up a few steps to get to the room...weird. However, the nice thing was that the room was nice and quiet. Not sure I would stay here again as I like to do most of my gamble at the hotel where I stay, but I just didn't feel the vibe of the casino. I wasn't the only one either as C didn't care for the casino either.

Last 3 nights were at Harrah's. I was comped for the three nights but had to pay resort fee. At check-in I kindly asked about an upgrade for the birthday girl (me), but she said the best she could do was $15 per night for the upgrade. Nah, I wanted a FREE upgrade. I also asked for a room NOT overlooking Carnival Court. So what do I get?? A non-upgraded room on the 14th floor overlooking Carnival Court. SERIOUSLY WOMAN, Did you not hear me???? Anywho, we decided to just stick it out for the night and see how it was. Turned out that it was ok. The patio door actually OPENS, so it was nice to have fresh air as it was very nice for our whole stay. In the evening if we took a break we'd open up the door and listen to the music from CC, but with the door closed you could barely hear it all all. Plus it was nice to look out and see the pool. We could also see just a bit of the Bellagio fountains. Room itself was fine. We chose to opt out of housekeeping and rec'd a $10 FB credit (per stay, not per night). But after 2 days we did have someone come and do a 'check' on our room.

Back for more updates after more beer and the foot ball game, and probably after a gambol or two...:headbang:

Half-time. Watching game on ESPN2. Team up by 7. Yay.
Do just thought I'd show you this beauty designed by my niece. The other side has my name on it. It's not a Yet I, but something comparable.
Just had a disturbing text conversation with my brother, who is here for the Christmas party. He is something like a Rule 22 assessor or something, that refers people with addiction problems to treatment. Well, he thinks I have a problem. WTF, told him to take his goddamn preaching elsewhere. Geez....[IMG]

Had a decent night gamboling here last night. This morning my ticket said I was up $30, yay me.

So now for more of my Vegas updates:

    Dining:
Thankfully, we have the same preference in dining in that we eat twice a day. Usually once late morning and again for supper:

    Breakfast:
1st morning was the champagne brunch @ Fremont. It's ok, not great but fills the belly and gets you started with your first alcohol of the day

Had brekkie at Magnolia's twice. I had a B1B1F from the player's 55+ club because it was my birthday month. She got one since she had just signed up for player's card. So, yeah, we're cheap like that. But, seriously, you can't go wrong with breakfast here. One morning I was slightly hung over and had chicken noodle soup and some breakfast items that I just couldn't eat so got it to go. The other morning she was a little hungover and had a hard time. Yeah, Vegas will do that!!! LOL. We forget that we are 50 something and NOT 30....DOH

Walked over to Ellis Island one morning as she had never been. DH and I have been there quite a few times, again, good food at a decent price. Busy as always.

    Supper:
1st night we had supper at The D Grille, well because I had $30 in food comps. Can't beat FREE!!!! I had the French dip (I love French Dip) and she had some kind of chicken sandwich. Both were GREAT. The D Grille is a little 'plain' but decent. I have eaten here a handful of times and have never had a bad meal.

Chicago Brewing Co- stopped in one evening and split a small chicken pizza and some garlic knotts. Meh....It wasn't great and the pizza was ummm., just not good. Gave her a stomach ache. I have been here before, but not sure if I would do again.

Hit Lanai Express in the Fremont for some quick Chinese. We each did a 2-item combo. The portions are HUGE, but it was tasty and hit the spot. You could easily feed 2 people with the portion size, seriously.

Carlo's & Charlies at the Flamingo- This was probably our favorite meal of the trip. We had each purchased a Groupon for a 4-hour open bar (margaritas or Busch beer only) along with the entree purchase. The flavors were sooooo tasty. We both said we wanted to go again. The frozen margaritas were yum. They give you a wristband and write the the time on it. So, you can come and go and get your fill when you are ready. We managed to make it there about 15 minutes before they closed and they gave us each one of those tall plastic bottles for the last margarita. Cool. Service here was also very friendly. I will be taking the young 'uns here for Mexican when I come back in March.

Hell's Kitchen - went here on my birthday. We got there early and decided to sit up at the bar until our table was ready. I had the prix fixe menu. For the starter I chose the Caesar salad as I wanted something fresh and lighter. The salad was excellent and huge and we managed to split it. When my beef wellington arrived I have to say I was disappointed as the mash on the plate was quite less than hot. Even the beef was not that hot. I like my food hot. I did tell the waiter but opted not to send the plate back, but did request that they bring me a new serving of the potatoes. Even those were not hot, but warm. C ordered the chicken scallopini and said it was great. My meal came with the sticky toffee pudding and she ordered one for herself instead of splitting the dessert. While it was yummy, it was not quite what I expected. To me, it was just a cake with a sauce on it and a scoop of ice cream. I guess I was expecting it to be heavy and dense and sticky and gooey. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but I could have had cheesecake or a Dairy Queen and been just as satisfied. Just my honest opinion. I will probably not be going back. However, the service was excellent and we had a nice window seat.

Hash House - at the Linq. We stopped for a very late 1st meal and wanted to keep it on the lighter side. She ordered a Caesar Salad and I ordered the chicken strips. We then split each. It was just right!!! Both were good but we had a crabby wait person. I don't think she liked that we did not order full meals. I think she shut us down on everything. For example, on the tables they had the little table stand that talked about like $6 drinks, but nope, couldn't do that as we had to be at the bar. There was a couple of other things. too.

Fulton Food Court - walked through here one evening just to refresh my memory of what was available. By the time I decided I should eat something just about everything was closed with the exception of the bakery place and the pizza place. The pizza place had a line and I was in no mood to wait so I grabbed a rueben from the bakery place. They would then heat it up. It was actually very good. A little on the spendy side as is everything there, but whatever, it's the Vegas strip.

Subway - last morning prior to the airport we walked over to the Casino Royale and grabbed a breakfast sammy to take back to our room.

Ok, down to the casino here. Back later for the last installment of Gambling and Experience. Hang in there.

So, jumping off-topic for a moment to share this pic. So, the day I left for Vegas the contractor was doing the demo on my tub/shower unit and found these two hiding inside....lol

One of the few pics I managed to get since I had no phone for much of my trip. Dinner at Hell's Kitchen. Beef Wellington and a Yuki Onna cocktail. It was probably the only signature vodka drink on the menu. It was just ok, for my 2nd drink I ordered a Moscow Mule and was just a bit surprised that it wasn't served in a copper mug. Okay I guess since I ended up getting it in a to-go cup.[IMG][IMG]

Beef Wellington is the bomb, that sure looks amazing....

Thanks for redeeming your TR, sometimes things don't go as planned, we've all been there.
