    My Trip Report

This was a solo trip....most of mine tend to be that now. Hubby not much of a gambler, and family members busy with life. But that's ok.....I am happy on my own!

Travel: I fly Delta, as that's the only airline that flies in/out of our tiny local. For this trip, I drove down to Appleton as I was visiting my kids when I returned. Left early Saturday a.m., and took a 2 hour bump/delay in MSP for $300. Still put me in Vegas at 5 p.m.
Flew home on Halloween...flight was scheduled for 9 a.m. Took a bump/delay of 4 hours for an $800 AMEX gift card. Was back in Appleton around 9 p.m.
Flights were on time and quick....can't believe it only takes 3 hours out and 2.5 back from MSP.
Used mostly the RTC system, which I am familiar with and being a senior, a 3 day pass was $10. For any bus, including SDX. I was checked and had no issues. Used Lyft from Paris to airport for $12.

    Hotels:
I had Golden Nugget booked for 3 nights, and when I arrived I was 2nd in line to check in. Nice young man put me in 1515 (Gold tower, poolside) which is what I reserved. Some noise from music during the day, but totally quiet at night. Well, except for the AC fan which turned out to be good, as I forgot to pack my white noise machine! I am an anal packer.....start 2 weeks ahead. But gosh, just forgot stuff this trip. IMG_1028.JPG IMG_1029.JPG

My rooms are comped for what I consider grinder play....I allot $300/day for slots/VP and usually stick to it. The resort fees are also comped, and I pick up a free newspaper each day, and 2 bottles of water are replaced in the room each day. Works for me!

I had booked Paris P room for Monday and Tuesday nights. I was in 1497P and just loved it! Sadly, I was too exhausted Monday night to pack up from the GN and move. So I went early Tuesday morning. 44972006_306627566826101_8575940175505391616_n.jpg 44965608_2212617622081817_3520700652353224704_n.jpg IMG_1030.JPG IMG_1034.JPG

There was a coffee maker (yay!). There was noise from the fountains, but after an Ambien, I slept just fine.

I had triple booked, doing the Cal for 3 nights so I could get my free play and food credits. This was a hassle, because the elevators took FOREVER! I stopped in the room at various times and the noise from the escalator replacement was very loud even on the 16th floor! I ended up checking out Tuesday morning. I don't believe I was charged anything, but will see when my CC bill comes.

    FOOD:

I am pretty low key when solo. Grabbed tacos from Cadillac late on Saturday and Sunday. Chicken tacos:eek:k. Shrimp were great (but very messy!).
I did the GN buffet Sunday morning (covered by points). I found it to be perfect for me....lots of choices including prime rib and ham....everything was hot and seemed fresh. Service was very good once I finally got my coffee and water.
Monday morning was the MSS buffet (covered by food comps). Not alot of choices, but at least this time it was hot. I did shrimp and fries at 777 Monday night...good as always and service quick once I got seated.
Tuesday morning I tried Market St cafe at the Cal for the first time, and it will be my last. My toast was dropped off when the food at the next table arrived. Some time later, my entree arrived. No one came back to offer extra coffee/water, or to see if I needed anything! Quite disappointing!
Tuesday evening I ate at Oyster Bay in Miracle Mile. Sat outside and watched the activities. Had ravioli stuffed with shrimp and crab, with great bread and a Riesling. The food was ok...probably a 7/10. Service a def 10.

    Gambling:

I do a mix of slots and VP, tho do not play VP at the GN (paytables and I never win!). I held my own Sat and Sun, but Monday could hit nothing. I had $90 in FP, and on Mon and Tuesday there was "Pick a pumpkin" that showed up on your machine when you inserted your card. Monday I got $51, and Tuesday: $40. So overall, I thought that was pretty good.
I had played at Paris on Sunday and Monday, but as mentioned, Monday was fairly dismal. Tuesday turned out to be my day! IMG_1035.JPG

I hit the 240 free games, and it retriggered another 110! I had around $500 when I cashed out. Then I hit another $200 on Amulet of Charm. I enjoy Paris' older machines....the new bright and shiny ones don't seem to turn out well for me!
I put $500 in the room and gambled the other $200 later that evening (no good hits, but fun!)

    Other:

I did the obligatory Conservatory/fountains. Was not impressed with the display this year, but the fountains are always a staple.
Met a fellow Packer fan from Milwaukee when we took the bus from DT to Paris....chatted the whole way and it's always neat to meet others from the state that enjoy Vegas!
SEMA was VERY busy....I will try to avoid next year. Had no idea! The bus route was actually changed (which I didn't know) so ended up walking/waiting Sunday afternoon more than I planned.

Thanks for making it to the end! I love all your reports, and usually come away with "I need to do that!"

Great report! Always makes me feel good to know that there are other ladies out there who like to Vegas solo! Makes me feel less guilty [emoji12]

Good to know that you got some comped nights at gn with your level of play. There is hope for me yet!

Colesc15: We are just west of Crandon, so Rhinelander airport is closest. The flight times are so limiting tho....hard to take bumps when that is my base. Appleton seems to give me more options, tho I got a great price out of GB for January.
CarolinReno: Love my solo trips, tho the losing days are a challenge. I should have had some firm plans for Monday, since that was not good gambling. I am not sure how I stay on GN radar.....I tend to play the older machines so seem to be able to play quite awhile on my money. But, who knows?

    Great report!

    Thanks!

    Nice pictures.

I also enjoy going solo, as I can adjust my schedule on a moment’s notice without inconveniencing another person.

Also, I really enjoy the metro buses with the senior citizen discount.

And thanks for the food critiques. That really helps sometimes. Prior to my October trip, a person on VMB mentioned how good the chicken pot pie at Claim Jumpers was. So I had it for lunch, and it was yummy!

    Thanks again

    Addendum:

My big brother graduated from the University of Wisconsin in June of 1972. I remember driving from central Texas.
    Madison was beautiful!

The bumps you took sure worked out for you. I'm midway between Appleton and MKE, so i might reconsider home base in the future. Leaving Vegas for the snow you had on Sunday had to be difficult for you.

Thanks for the nice trip summary.

Nice report and those two bumps were very nice.

Flying out of Milwaukee on SWA, there are occasionally bump opportunities, but we are at the point in life we just want to get there. The last bump we took was something like 5 hours and we got so sh*tfaced at the airport bar we said that would be the last time.

We found dirt cheap flights in January out of green bay as well. We took full advantage and fly out January 17th

Colesc15: I leave the 12th for a week.....normally would head to Laughlin for a few days, but GN is actually doing a slot tournament mid week, so that is appealing also.
    Still making up my mind!
I currently have Paris booked beginning and end of the trip....I will use some of my gift cards to cover the resort fees.
    Where are you staying?

Great report, love hearing about your retrigger after already getting a bunch of free spins.

There's nothing like a machine eating up the minutes on its own while not spending your credits....

I so agree....even if the bonus ends up not paying much, I always tell myself "but you weren't throwing money in" for those spins!
