    Hello friends!

I noticed that this yummy-sounding place, Red Plate, is now open at the Cosmo! For fine dining lovers or Chinese food fans, has anyone tried this yet?

    - and before anyone raises their nose at prices, as a San Diego resident who is used to paying for expensive food and drinks....this is on-par with several "fine dining Chinese eateries" I've been to, including a local: http://sdchinesecuisine.com/emeraldmenu - so it doesn't seem very outlandish to me for what you get. And if the presentation is as pretty as the pictures on the Cosmo's site, I might have to try it one day!

Well, I wouldn't get one of my old FGFs to go there with me. She wouldn't eat at the Chinese restaurant at Monte Carlo (Las Vegas) because the prices were "ridiculous".

    Red Plate's menu and prices

Red Plate's Pei Don Sau Yook Jook (rice porridge with pork and preserved egg) is $16.88

Beijing Noodle No. 9 is $14.99

As opposed to $7.99 almost anywhere in Chinatown.

Their version of Mapo Tofu is $16.88, as opposed to Wing Lei which is $26.88

Their prices are somewhat close to Wing Lei (Wynn)

However, thanks to the OP for letting us know. I don't get comped at Cosmo or at the Wynn, so it's unlikely that I will ever eat there.

I can't see myself trying it. I might like it, but the cost of trying it and not liking it is just not an acceptable trade. Certainly they have some interesting stuff though.

Aww that sucks @Here2Learn ! In the casinos I have worked at, it is typical to take off-days like that, depending on how slow the rest of the eateries are.

Hopefully you get to try it one day!

Buddha Jumps Over the Wall - no wonder. It's Shark's Fin Soup

    From Dish
"Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, also known as Buddha's Temptation, is a variety of shark fin soup in Fujian cuisine. It was created by Zheng Chunfa, celebrated chef and proprietor of the Ju Chun Yuan Restaurant in Fuzhou, Fujian Province. Zheng was private chef of a senior local official in his early years."
