Maybe a dumb question, but are you allowed to smoke cigars in strip casinos?

Yes you can, and you'll find others doing the same.

So many things to say about smoking cigars around others.... but I have already said too much.

Be polite about it and no one will get riled up.
If someone sits down next to me and then complains I always offer them a chance to move.
I do not smoke at tables.

I won’t smoke at tables. In my opinion cigarette smoke is just as bad.

I can’t believe people suffering from addictions can even make it to Las Vegas! I mostly hang with those enjoying addictions.

The woman playing VP next to me at Treasure Island a couple of weeks ago wasn't having any problem. It wasn't one of those little sissy ones with the plastic tip, it was a big ole stogie about the size of a sausage.

I guess it's a good thing I don't drink or I may not have been able to restrain myself. ;) She was probably 60ish and was actually with a man.

Planet Hollywood will not approve of you smoking cigars in the main aisles. Did not seem to care when I was playing a machine. So, it just depends where you are. I try to be polite and go to machines that are not lots of other players around who do not smoke.

My brother was asked (by the pit) to put his out at both the Golden Nugget & the El Co (LIR table & blackjack table).

I only light up if someone with a cigarette sits down next to me. Whoever says cigars smell worse than cigarettes needs to have their olfactory sensor reprogrammed!

I had a similar experience at ElCo, but they were pretty rude about it. I walked in with one and they basically told me to leave.

I love cigars and have smoked them at various BJ tables here and there. I ALWAYS ask permission from my table mates (including the dealer) before I light up though. Rarely does anyone object, but I figure they can't be mad when I gave them the opportunity to tell me no.

So I think the rule of thumb...which has been stated a couple times already...is be polite about it.

I don't smoke but cigar smoke is much heavier and so much worse than cigarette, (personally wish that neither were allowed). We have had cigar smokers standing behind our vp machines and it is vile. I am glad PH has stopped non players from standing around smoking cigars. Oh yea I haven't ruined my olfactory sensors by smoking cigars or cigarettes..:D I will leave smokers alone if they leave me alone.

Hotbeds: Cigarette smoke worse than Cigar? You are the one that needs a check on your olfactory sensor. When I was young I smoked both and I could tell a big difference, now I don't like to smell either. While most cigar and cigarette smokers are courteous the few that aren't are the problem. My last trip I was playing VP on the right side of a there machine row. The smoker sits down next to me and blowing smoke in my direction. I had to move from where I was playing because the smoke was making my nose itch.

Smoking is legal indoors in Nevada and I have to remember that during the first fifteen minutes of every trip I make...and I’m from Kentucky. Cigarette smoke annoys everyone except the person smoking it. But cigar smoking indoors should never happen outside of a smoking lounge. The smoke doesn’t smell awful but it smells everywhere. And no, you aren’t doing everyone a favor by letting them enjoy the smell of your cigar.

This has devolved into the usual trope on smoking, I'm closing this thread to further comments as the original question was asked and answered.
