Sportsbook with inexpensive drinks?

Sportsbooks kind of fall into a grey area of casinos on the spectrum of "free" and paid drinks.

That is, they can be "free", in that sports bettors will often get drink tickets for their wagers - just as players at slots and tables will get "free" drinks for the same reason.

But they can also be paid, in that the sportsbooks have bars which you can buy drinks at - just as there are bars where you can buy drinks anywhere else.

Since "free" drink rules on sportsbooks seem to have tightened up, it seems like going into a sportsbook with the expectation that you'll pay for a drink is a very safe assumption to make.

Having said that, you're then at the mercy of that sportsbook's pricing. Which, as we know about casino bars, will either be very expensive ($10.99 plus tax for a mixed drink) or very cheap ($3 for a domestic beer). There isn't any in-between.

So, my objective here is to find out which Las Vegas sportsbooks tend to have less expensive drinks. I realize that some people have their strategies of just bringing drinks in from outside. However - out of respect, I'd rather not go bringing in outside beverages to avoid buying the drinks like you're supposed to.

Any insights here? Whether it's knowledge that one place tends to be reasonable, or even knowledge of specific deals - it will all be very much appreciated!

 

I make very few sports book bets, however: I see a lot of beer buckets going out at Orleans and Gold Coast; El Cortez often has a single tap on their hot dog cart; sports book delis generally have the best sandwiches on the planet.

 

You’re an honorable customer... Bravo! I hope you’re rewarded with some solid intel. Unfortunately, I can only offer the obvious generality... the lower-end the property, most likely the better deal on booze. My guess is Silver Sevens is propably considerably less expensive than Wynn and so on, but again I’m sure that’s of little help.

 

Off strip has some deals.

On strip? Eh. Bringing a tall boy from the c store is usually a much better deal than ordering from the waitress. I’m not aware of an on strip sports book with decent drink prices.

 

In what I hope is a related question, what happens if you use a phone app to place your bets? It is my understanding that the lines can be brutal at busy times and the way most convenient and least likely to result in missing getting a bet in on time is to use the app. Can you get drink tickets if you bet using the app?

 

If your trying to save money on the strip, I would check out 2 .Or 3 Casinos and the areas around the sports book or anywhere there are tv screens that you can see the game from comfortably. There are Casinos that place TV's in so many different places so it's up to you to do your homework beforehand. Once you find a location with a slot that your willing to play just slip a $100 bill in the machine with your players card. Don't ever play without a players card. When you get the waitresses attention find out what they will comp you and order up and give her a $5 the first time and tell her to please keep them coming. They usually will take care of you and you can drink much cheaper and you might even get lucky on the machine. She's not constantly watching you like the bartender as she is most interested in making tips. I've had to do that many times when I take a friend or 2 with me that don't want to spend$10 on every single drink. Lots of times they'll bring me a beer and a shot.

 

The Cal and I believe all Boyds with sportsbooks have $15 buckets with 6 beers.

 

Maybe I'm just rude, but I've never thought of it as disrespectful for bringing in a drink or two whether it be the sportsbook, casino or pool. If the casinos cared, you would see more measures to restrict it and more pushback against all the Walgreens and CVS locations. So, my suggestion is like the two other posts above. Bring one or two from the local convenience store or go to a lower end property off strip. You probably won't find much on the strip.

If you're still feeling guilty about it, make a bet at the sportsbook and go to a nearby bar with a TV and happy hour. Plenty of casinos have bars and restaurants near their book

 

It’s always amazed me how tight the sportsbooks are with drinks and tickets.
I don’t bother to watch many games in them anymore for that reason. I’ll place my bets and go to a bar with TVs and play VP and watch the games.
Last time I was in the Nugget and placed around $1100 - $1200 in different bets on college football and after paying asked for drink tickets and she handed me 1 ticket.

 

Race books are a lot more liberal with their drink tickets than sports books. When I'm in a sports book and need a drink ticket, I'll find a race with an obvious odds on favorite. Say one horse is going off at 2:5 and all the others are going off at 7:1 or higher. These races are not unusual. I'll put $10 on the odds on favorite to show and collect my drink ticket.
If the horse comes in, the drink was free. If the horse doesn't, I spent $10 on a drink that I would have spent had I bought it outright.

The Cal and Freemont always have $3 Corona and on the strip Casino Royale have $2 Michelobs.Strip prices are disgusting for trying to get a beer and watch a game. Was at TI last month and it was $7.50 for a bud light draft and $8.25 for a bottle of SOL beer that I recently have been drinking...I went ahead and drink 2 because I had already placed my bets at another establishment and wasn't planning on drinking/staying all night....buy will not do that again...too many better options by just being a little more savvy.

 

I have a hard time believing those who complain about the tightening up of free drink tix in sports books.

House advantage is around 4-5% depending on how you’re betting. So a $100 bet yields an expected $5 revenue to the casino which is far less than the cost of a drink in their bars yet that’s usually the threshold for a drink ticket at many casinos.

It’s unreasonable to expect to go back to the days of drinking for free all day in exchange for a couple $20 football bets.

 

At the Paris sportsbook they were giving out free drinks tickets when tipped ,, l noticed it was nearly 1 ticket for every dollar tipped ,, l gave a $5 dollar tip and got 4 tickets

 

Not sure if this counts as bringing in outside booze in your opinion... but the last couple of trips I've hung out at the Cromwell sports book and found that while servers will come around every so often, there is a hotel gift shop facing the book that you can walk over to and buy a 24oz can of beer for about $2 - $4 depending on the brand. None of the servers even looked twice at me as I was swigging out of these huge cans (although out of courtesy I did throw them away myself).

It's a small, newly renovated space that is really comfortable and isn't super busy. The ticket writers are really friendly and the TVs are top of the line. It still feels like a secret that not many people are aware of, so I'm not sure how long its charm will last.
