I cancelled. Then I re-booked for a cheaper rate! In fact I've done that a few times since I jumped the gun and booked back in... probably April or May. Ran into problems with Fridge, Stove, deep freeze, and both cars needing repairs all within a few weeks of each other and I was worried that I would have to cancel due to costs, but... debt, schebt. I'm going on this trip!

As it was happening and I saw some of the false reports on Twitter, I was worried that I would have to cancel, not because I was too scared too, but because there would be too much damage to properly enjoy it. But I took a deep breath and realized that I should just go to sleep and read the more accurate and true news in the morning.

    I'm going!

I'm not sure. I'm confident that the security will be greatly increased and they might axe the concert at the start line. We shall see...

I was not planning to go until march, but just booked 2 stays late october and between Xmas and NYE, and I chose to stay at the Mandalay Bay.

People in the city are working so hard everyday to help us having fun and forget for a time our little problems. It's time to show them our appreciation and our love.

I can totally understand this. I didn't see any of the things you did first hand. I also watched the whole thing from the safety of my living room. Trauma is real. Some day you may start to feel differently. Or maybe not. Do what works for you.

I'm sorry to hear your story. My father passed away about a month after my last trip and had it happened shortly before, I'm not sure I could have gone.

I have to give you some kudos for thinking of her feelings.

I'm not going over next week for the re-opening of Rio Secco. The shootings had nothing to do with that decision. I just don't want to deal with the drive right now.

I'm flying to Vegas on the 14th.

First 5 nights we will be staying off strip and the 6th is booked at Mandalay Bay.

In the first few days we will drive out to the strip and MB to see how it feels to be there. If the vibe isn't right for us, we'll cancel MB and stay off strip. If it feels okay, we will keep our MB reservation and enjoy ourselves on the south end of the strip.

I'm there on Oct 24-28 at the Delano.. (the all suite hotel at Mandalay Bay). I was considering changing properties, but 3 nights are comped and one is at $60 a night.. so obviously I can't do better price-wise. My sister suggested that the Mandalay Bay may have heightened security after this horrible tragedy and I don't want to let some "whack job" dictate my vacation but on the other side, my friend has backed out of the trip now and a couple local friends don't want to come to the strip to hang out.. so I may be on my own... Anyone in town during this time?

I'm there 25-30. I think we're going to try to have a get-together on the 26th around 5:30, but I'm having trouble picking a place to meet up.

I promised my brother I would be there with him for the Rock n Roll marathon November 12. We have run the half marathon together six times (actually, i'm about 20 minutes behind him lol) and always had a blast running down the strip at night which they close all traffic for the event. We will be staying at Caesars Palace while the start line is right in front of Mandalay Bay, so I can only imagine the type of security that will be out there with 20,000 + runners lined up.

Can you tell me anything about the 'vibe' on the strip right now?

I can't imagine them being able to alter the coarse at this point in time. The amount of city planning and all that's involved, but who knows?..............maybe they'll move the start line closer to Monte Carlo or somewhere around that.

62 hours and counting, never a thought of changing or cancelling.
