I was not afraid per se of Viet Cong sappers, but I am scared of electrical transformers, especially when they are humming, and the old fashioned pressure cookers.

What inanimate objects other than your spouses frighten you?

    Vintage Fisher-Price Little People!
Since my childhood I've had a recurring nightmare that I will wake up one day and be one of the toy figures.

You have to feel for the guy in green below.
His bride has a a nice rack, but his options are quite limited!

Ladders. I don't mind heights but I cant stand having to climb a ladder. especially an extension ladder leaning against something.

On a sidenote regard the transformers.....we had a line that ran way behind our house when I was a kid. We loved to play Barbie at the beach under them because nothing grew there and it was all sandy. Of course today, we wonder why none of us have brain tumors from all that current.

Agreed, anything over a mouthful is wasted.

......or the polychlorinated biphenyls used to cool them.

I used to fear dentists and avoided them for years even though I had a dental plan. But I finally found a good one and started using a Sonicare and things have improved.

    Wall hanging masks.

Not an issue during the daytime. Nighttime is a different story.

As a kid, I spent the night at a friend's house whose family had lived in Venezuela for a couple of years. He had a couple of wooden masks hung on his bedroom wall which I found disconcerting late at night when I was half-awake/half-asleep.

Dead animals in unexpected places, like my living room!

My youngest cat, half feral, keeps trying to teach the other two cats how to hunt, so he'll bring dead or almost dead birds and mice into the house if he gets a chance. Not so much of a problem most of the year, but in summer, if the screens are down, he'll bring his teaching assistants through the open window. I've put a bell on him but he still kills. Sometimes he'll conceal an entire mouse in his mouth so we'll let him in, and then blam! A mouse comes rolling out of his mouth, in shock. Not cool with this!

What frightens me is when I dive into the deep part of a pool and go to the bottom where the drain is. It is quiet and eerie and I can hear the water pump humming.

Anything like large water tanks and artificial reservoirs and such that has man made pipes and shit.

I have a phobia of holes (Trypophobia ). There are these nasty pictures of these creatures with holes on them. I get goose bumps and I just want to run into a hot bath.
