Octavius vs. Palace Room

I'm booking a room at Caesars Palace with Chase points. I don't have any CET loyalty, but want to stay there next trip. I'm looking at a Palace Premium for $136 or Octavius Premium for $154 per night for four nights. So, we're talking about an $80 difference. The basic Forum room is $125.

Is the Octavius room worth the upgrade? I usually book a basic room at an MGM property and spend most of my time on the casino floors. I'm also travelling with a Diamond member who has a comped room separate from mine. Any insight would be appreciated.

 

Octavius is generally considered a nicer room. But is also a longish walk from everywhere.

Palace tower is a neat location, as the elevators are right near the pool (handy if you will spend time there), and reasonable (for Caesars anyway) walk to either the lobby or Forum shops. Sort of central.

The Palace Rooms have also just had a lovely new renovation. I loved our room. But depending on your dates, the issue you could encounter is noise. The Palace tower reno is ongoing, so if you are prone to sleep past 9am in Vegas, you could have some noisy annoying mornings.

If I were you, I'd go for the Palace. I think the room will compare quite favourably with a basic MGM room.

 

Depends on what you like to do. I prefer the Octavius Tower over the
Palace Tower but both are nice. Octavius is a far trek from check-in
unless you are Diamond - it is still a walk down that hall, but it is
right by the doors to the Garden of the God's pool and just down
a short hall from Bacchanal. If you go that way instead of back
down the long hall toward's Augustus, it is not much farther
from everything than the Palace Tower which is in that
same area as Payard and Bacchanal. If you are wanting the other
pool - then Palace is closer and it is where all the convention area
is.

They recently remodeled the Palace Tower - but I am not sure
if all the rooms are finished yet - I don't think I heard that they are.
You might want to consider that - if they are building early in the mornings
or since it is summer - at night - you will have a hard time sleeping if
they are remodeling around you. Just something to think about.

Banging from hammers is not fun - so if you choose the Palace - you
need to be sure and ask at check-in. If they put you below where
they are remodeling - you will probably be unhappy.

My wife and I loved the Octavius Tower room we had. I'm not sure if was considered a "premium" room, though, just the basic king one a few years ago. Her cousin had a massive suite in one of the other towers at Caesars on that same trip and while it was really cool having all of those rooms and a piano and everything in the room, it was definitely more aged and dated in styling. If I were staying there again and offered both for the same price, I would take the basic Octavius room over his since it was nicer and newer to me and we don't spend too much time in the room.

 

You may want to consider the Augustus Tower which offers faster access to the strip. Here's our room from last trip in.

 

We have stayed in all the towers mentioned except Forum. My preference is Augustus,(nice rooms, not too far from strip again for CP), my wife prefers Octavious, (if you check CP website I believe Octavious rooms are slightly smaller than Augustus). Our last trip in April we stayed in Palace, as stated great location if you use the pool but we experienced a fair amount of construction noise and even though we had an updated room which was nice, the mattress was poor. The only major concern if I were booking would be the noise in Palace. Good luck and have a great trip!

 

Monitoring this thread, I'm booked for 5 nights over Xmas in a Palace room. Hoping the remodel in the whole tower is done by then. It'll be my first stay at the Flagship.

 

Thanks for the heads-up about the on-going construction in the Palace Tower. We are booked in there for three nights later this month. We were going to give the $20 trick a try already but we might mention the construction during the exchange now.

Why does she prefer Octavius over Augustus? Location to the gaming floor and strip is important to me. However, Augustus rooms are much higher priced so I'm not willing to pay the difference.

 

Last Christmas we stayed in the Palace Tower Petite Suite..had a nice jacuzzi tub, bidet and large dual showehead shower...comped with a $20 a night upgrade

 

Can someone who has recently stayed at Caesars please clarify the current room situation. I am booked for a Palace Tower Premium Room and just got an email today asking if I want to request an eStandby upgrade. The first option listed for $25 extra per night is called "Premium Studio." The confusing part is that the pictures for the Premium Studio are the same that went along with the Palace Premium Room when I booked it a couple months back and the eStandby thing doesn't indicate which tower the room is in. The only difference is the room size, with the Premium Studio listed as 725 sq feet and the Palace Premium room listed at 650 sq feet. I went to Caesars' website and the Palace Tower Premium Room is no longer listed as a bookable room. I know the Palace Tower is under construction, but can someone with more knowledge of the current situation at the property please clarify what is going on? I booked this room for my girlfriend's birthday and she really wants the "oversized" spa tub that was listed with the Palace Tower room, so I want to make sure I request the correct room at check in and plan to do the $20 sandwich to get the desired room.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

 

All the Palace rooms have oversized tubs so you are good if the reservation still stands for Palace Tower.The next upgrade is the Petite Suite which has also been called the Palace Premium. That is a larger room with a double bathroom, double shower and bidet. I can see this being called a Premium Studio as the room size seems right. It's just a "Studio" isn't exactly a sexy upgrade so I don't know why they would rebrand that way.

 

See what the price is for the Julius tower. That's better than the palace tower based on location. The ranking of the towers are:

Augustus > Octavius > Julius > palace > forum.

The value of octavius goes up or down based on how much you use the pool.

I left out NOBU since I'm not familiar with it.

 

I think the best room for location is the Julius tower it is right in the middle of the casino the elevator is right by the cashiers cage. The rooms were redone last year and are very nice but small(comparable in size to the Forum tower rooms). I have stayed in Augustus and Palace and both rooms are very nice especially if remodeled. We are going to stay in Octavius in August they are suppose to be comparable to Augustus but farther from casino.

 

A remodeled Palace room is going to top a Julius room even taking into account the location. If they do the remodel correctly, it could even be in the Laurel collection because the newer towers have similar layouts.
