Does having a winning trip to Vegas make you want to go back even sooner?

My wife and I have been to Las Vegas at least 25 times. Out of those, I would say that we had 3 winning trips where we came home with more money that we had when we left. We had about 7 trips where we came home down about $100 per day, and since we use cash for tips, cabs, snacks, etc, I consider those break even trips. That leaves about 15 trips were we lost money.

We recently returned from a 3 day trip where we came home with twice as much as we brought with us. (We are low rollers so it really wasn't that much) But I noticed that the very next day I had a strong desire to go back to Vegas, much stronger than I have experienced before. We have a tentative plan to go back in July for my birthday, but I don't know that I will make it that long.

How about you? If you have a winning trip to Vegas does that increase your desire to return?

As to your question - sure - we all want to keep winning.

 

A winning trip always has me wanting to go back sooner or toying with the idea of extending my trip while still there. We all want to win!

I've never had a winning Vegas trip! Mostly my own degeneracy causing me to go home a loser every time, as there were times I was up $8-10K, but just bet bigger and played longer trying to win more! Lol ( Dumb ass) I just got back and have been looking for flights out the very next time I'll have enough extra money. I had planned on going mid June, but I spent my bankroll over my late April to May trip. Screwed myself out of that one. So hoping for a 4th of July trip to play in the Red, White, & Blue Slot tournament at V/P. May not be able to pull that off as my kids go to summer camp and we all know those aren't cheap! They costs a Vegas bankroll at $1,000's per kid. So could be early August before I can return. The first few weeks after I return are always when I wish I was back the most. At least in summer I can do things I enjoy here in the Tundra like fishing and water skiing to pass the time.

 

We've never won a significant enough amount -- a handful of thousands is about it -- for it to trigger much of anything. (And on the reverse, we've never gone on tilt, walking out hammered and down.) Sure, winning is far better, but Vegas is just another vacation destination for which we've budgeted time and dollars. We get up and are more likely to be thinking about buying wine or some play stuff than re-spooling a Vegas getaway.

Tough for us to get out to Las Vegas more than once a year.

But I have mentioned to my wife once we retire a couple trips a year should be in the cards(pardon the pun).

Not sure if a winning trip would make me want to go sooner. I might be the strange one here but since winning trips are far and few in-between I tend to want to savor the victory a little longer.

I've only had 2 winning trips in 17 tries.

If I were to factor in the fun experiences and the value of the vacation time spent, I would say that a vast majority of my trips were "winning trips".

My past trip was a winning trip. I have a trip planned with my wife in December and usually I'd be itching to sneak in a solo trip between that time. My enthusiasm for this would usually be off the charts but this time it's more like "yeah, ok....".

 

The only solo trip - I kept stashing all the $ 10-20 bills in my backpack.
Did not count it during my trip.
Last night in LV hit a jackpot.
Counted my money on returning home.
Won 3 times the money I had left with.
Booked a trip with wifey - she likes to shop the outlet malls

 

Winning or losing trip, I want to star planning at LAS while waiting for my departure flight.

What ever money I come home with win or lose goes into my investment account so I have to start over on building a bankroll. I usually don't get excited about going back until the BR hits a certain level. However a winning trip may spur me to build that BR faster.

 

I have never really had a winning Vegas trip! I go about twice a year. The last time I went I paid for everything in cash and came home having won enough to have only spent about $250 total over 3 days. That includes all of my meals (including a couple of pricy ones), a show, all of my gambling and drinks. That felt like a big win to me. I am going back next month, and at that point it will have been 7 months. In a way, I'm kind of nervous to go, because I would really like to have another trip like that again, and what are the odds of that happening twice in a row?! However, I'm going to keep the positivity going by thinking my trips kinda have a Random Number Generator. Just because I did well last time doesn't mean I can't do as well or BETTER than last time!

 

The urge to turn around and go right back is always there for me, win or lose. I really do love Vegas.

My excuse or reasoning, lol, is that we never set foot in Vegas until after our kids were out of college and one was married, so now we are making up for lost time.

In reality, while I am a slot degenerate in Vegas and have won and taken home some mighty nice jackpots, more often than not I'm on the losing or near break even spectrum. But win or lose, I've never extended a trip or given in to the urge to return right after a trip. We allocate XX dollars each year for gambling in Vegas - so whether it's split between 2, 3, or 4 trips, the BR is fixed and firm, plus we often travel with our friends so half of our trips are planned mutually. If nothing else it helps keep those urges in check.

 

You and I are the same! I enjoy making up for lost time!

 

I feel that I can now reply to this post. Over the past 3 weeks, I have been extraordinarily lucky.

I hit for $9000 in Lake Tahoe in May, and just hit for $8800 in Las Vegas two days ago. I netted about $11,000.

So, with that, plus still making it back from a disastrous 2016, of course I want to go back, but knowing that gambling is a negative expectation game, I know that "the wind will change direction" at any time, so I temper that with "staying on schedule. I have two trips in August to make, plus one in October, and the BIG one in December.

So, I've decided to "Stay on target", and don't be wooed by the "dark side".
