What's everyone wearing ??

Alright thought I would get some recommendations on what all you guys are wearing while in Vegas ??

First let me give you a little description of myself to maybe help for suggestions. I am a blue jean and t shirt guy here in Ohio, when the sun comes out I'm in shorts and usually a tank top. This is fine out in the country where I live, but in Vegas I will definitely look like the old aged over weight fat man that I am.

Here is what you would have to work with if you was myself. I am approximately 5'11" and around 260 lb. About 2 years ago I was around 200 lb and felt great, could wear a tight fitting shirt and feel good about it. Now that I am approaching 50, tight t shirts look like shit on me. Hence the extra 60 lb beer gut and man boobs that have formed in the last year.

Please cut me some slack, I know I need to start exercising and eating right, but see tons of guys built just like myself. So what type clothes should I wear while in Vegas ?? Mainly shirts, cause beer gut and man boobs look like shit. How about shoes ?? Does my old school black Nike's still look alright ?? I am married so I'm not trying to impress, just trying to fit in.

 

I empathize with you. Luckily, I have gone the other way in the past year. My wardrobe for a week in Vegas (the past 15 years) used to fit into an overhead bag. 7 pair of underwear, 7 pair of socks, 7 white t-shirts, a pair of jeans, a pair of shorts, possibly a swim suit and three button down shirts that I would wear over my white t-shirt and un-tucked like a sweater. That's it. I never encountered a restaurant that wouldn't let me in wearing jeans and a button down shirt (which I'd button for the special occasion.

July 2016 I had gastric sleeve surgery and now I'm just fitting into size L shirts. I was wearing 3x. I've lost 12 inches on my waist. I eat whatever I want and I'm happy as shit.

 

Wow sounds like you have dropped some massive weight. When I was down to 200 lb I was doing a workout every day that was a knockoff to P90x it was called Supreme 90 and it worked. But now I am the way I am because Im not watching what I eat and drink.

 

I can only eat a little bit before I'm full. A restaurant meal for me is about 1/3 of the meal and the rest comes home for 2 more meals. Can't explore too much of the restaurant scene in LV anymore as an appetizer is a full meal for me. If my room has a fridge I only need to purchase 1 meal a day...and I'm full. 1/2 of a drink and I've had enough. So, life has changed. But I'm never hungry and don't feel like I'm deprived because whenever I want to eat, I do.
I do go to the gym...4-5x/week...but it doesn't really show. My chest is starting to harden up and my man-boobs are much less than they were and my ass cheek fits into one's hand again. Yay!
But you asked about clothes...and above I mentioned what I packed.

 

Nothing with pleats. Dark colors, or at least avoid jarring light/dark contrasts at the waistline. Buy good clothing that fits, not baggy crap. NO cargo shorts. If going untucked, make sure it's not a tent.

 

I am in vegas usually when it is very hot. for me it is t-shirt and cargo shorts, nice sneakers. most of the time I am just casino hopping downtown. no fancy restaurants, bars or clubs. once in a while I may take in a show, and for that I change into pants and a nicer shirt. I bring one pair of jeans and one pair khakis and almost never wear them. I used to dress nicer when I was thinner. I would say don't wear the tank top, and I hate those old-man t-shirts too. they accentuate the man boobs. a polo or short sleeve button-up should suffice, there are plenty to choose from when you go shopping.

 

Black jeans (NEVER shorts), nice but comfortable shoes (Ecco currently), and nice golf or 3-button polos in the warm and sweatshirts/sweaters in winter. I used to do the button up dress shirt thing but I realized I wasn't going anywhere in town that warranted a dressier look (not a club or ultra-posh restaurant guy). On longer trips I'll take one along but rarely break it out.

TLDR; casual but not slobby.

 

I wear a lot of Nike dri fit golf polos, cargo shorts, and nice, comfortable tennis shoes.

 

We usually venture out early doors and just stay out until we drop. We generally enjoy getting out and about and drinking during the day. Once we get back to the hotel room that is us done for that day, but we have been known to go out at 3am in the morning and stick it till midnight. Never get really get dressed up so basically smart jeans, t-shirt, decent casual shirt and a trendy pair of shoes.

Never wear a bum bag/fanny pack etc

We rarely eat out anywhere too posh and tend to avoid clubs but we never look out of place in bars or restaurants we frequent.

 

You wear what you want to wear and what makes you feel comfortable. Shorts and T-Shirt in Vegas around Summertime no problem.
A Short Sleeve Shirt w/ Tails out would be fine. I wouldn't wear a Tank Top unless I was at the Pool. That's just a personal preference.

 

I gained a bit of weight since last year (20 / 25 lb). 37 years old / 5'11" about 190lb. Mine is all in my stomach

(Five Guys bacon hamburger = death of me)

The wife just did our vegas shopping - mostly from Express - I've since been bumped from a medium polo to a large and usually 34 waist to 36 waist

I'm packing primarily white -
2 or 3 white polos
black button down short sleeve, blue button down short sleeve
2 white / off white linen pants, 1 or 2 color linen pants (light blue and grey, maybe)
3 or 4 linen shorts and 2 or 3 colored (red, blue, yellow) board shorts
Pair of sandals; pair of dress shoes
1 or 2 pairs of swim shorts as we'll be by the pool most every day
maybe a suit (no tie) - but I don't think we're going anywhere that fancy
^---- that's us trying our hardest not to over pack as we often do - if it doesn't fit into my carry on, it's not coming this year.

That said - I'm on a strict diet for the next 2 weeks of coffee, water, fruit and clif bars if I feel like passing out.

I'm pretty into fashion - not as bad as the wife, but if I don't like how I look, I'll change.

(This is purely my opinion based on you being concerned about how you dress - by no means am I telling you how to dress yourself, hahah)

My suggestion - go hit up a few stores. I know using a fitting room is a real PITA (I hate it) but nice clothes can be had fairly cheaply (look for coupons, % off) and make sure you look in the mirror. What looks good on a website or on the rack sometimes doesn't look good when you put it on.

If your not afraid of spending a little money and want to wear jeans, go look at Lucky Brand jeans - My closet is pretty much full of them. Their a great line mid to high end and some of them have a bit of spandex woven into them so they have a little give to them. They usually run $80 - $140 / pair.

Nice shoes are key IMO - my uncle (salesman) once told me, the first thing he did when walking into a doctors office is look at the other salesman shoes - if they were faded, scuffed - he knew they didn't take stuff seriously. If you have black / brown shoes polish them or get them polished. Again, nice shoes can be found cheaply but also, make sure you try them on. Nothing will suck more then walking from parking to dinner or the casino and have your feet killing you. I wore white shoes with a beige suit and blue tie for our wedding years ago - was actually complimented on the combination by more then a few people.

A nice brown or black leather belt is always a nice accessory. Some are double sided - 1 belt that's black on 1 side, brown or white on the other. Casual lunch during the day? White side. Fancy dinner at night? Black.

Dark colors hide problem areas better but this is the desert and black attracts heat so be mindful of dark colors if your walking the strip.

On the other hand - if your "ok" with how you look - screw it and dress how you'd like. This is Vegas - you will NEVER see these people again and if you do, go put a grand on red cause you just hit the lottery of being in the same place twice as someone else that remembers what you looked like last time, lol...

 

Going to be back in Sept and one of the nights I'll be rocking this paisley Purple Rain shirt found on the Macys clearance rack

 

Jeans and t-shirts. Maybe one polo or button down shirt. I bring three pairs of shoes, running shoes, my casual/dress shoes, and nicer looking "hiking" shoes. Need to change up my shoes each day otherwise my feet will get mad at me. I don't go to Vegas dressed to impress. I don't care what people think about me, especially when I'm never going to see 99.8% of them ever again.

I wear shorts & t-shirts during the day, or when I'm playing poker.

Jeans & polo/buttoned shirts if I'm eating at nicer restaurants.

I stagger around on crutches, and drive a scooter, so what I am wearing is the last thing people are looking at

 

My husband is 6' 3" and 350 pounds. It's so hard to find anything that fits him that he actually likes. He hates shopping. He wears jeans and a short sleeved button down shirt about every day. I'm not one to really dress up either and we eat at nice restaurants without a problem. I try to get him to wear darker colored tshirts that match his button down shirts when in Vegas.

 

Jeans,Tshirt and sneakers .Open shirt with collar on top cause the casinos are always a bit cold for me..

 

I'm 5'8" and weigh in at 185. This is my normal vegas daytime attire compared to the court attire. This particular wardrobe and grooming ensures that there will be none of this unwanted boulevard-bum-cd conversation business. On the downside, women and kids generally cross to the opposite side of the street...so there is that. Below the belt..jeans. Unless it's summer, then a pair of shorts (Not cargo shorts...no, no, no, no, no!). At night, it's either a polo (in summer) or button down long sleeve (in winter). When we're in Vegas, there's no need (for us) to dress other than casual, as we'll not be frequenting any place with a real-or-implied dress code.

 

Cargo Shorts are a great invention! Especially for those super long Casino Hopping days.
