I'm just finished watching "Bizarre Foods: Delicious Destinations" and they featured the Jucy Lucy. Wow!! I want a burger like that!!!!!

Being that there is nothing like this here, and I'm not destined to visit Minneapolis in the near or far future, I might just try to make one at home!

Might not be as great as the original, but man, I want one like that!

They had Juicy Lucy at the former Grind Burger Bar on Tropicana.

Alas, Grind closed soon after I had one of their burgers in 2013. The molten cheese was nice, but the green chile made the burger!

I've had one in Chicago, I realize that's not the original, but come on....stuffing a burger with cheese isn't exactly cutting edge molecular gastronomy.

My variation is the shredded cheese blended into the ground beef and then grilled. It's not so much a 'center' as it is throughout...surface, center, etc. This could well be one of those 'eat it at the original restaurant' kind of things.

You need to use a different cheese. If the cheese is too soft it will do that, use a thicker, harder cut of cheese and you should wait until the last moment to stuff it. The beef can be room temp, then grill it!

There's a joint called Aces and Ales in Vegas that has them. 2 of them and off-strip. I definitely enjoyed the burger though.
