First trip to Vegas in a couple of years and I'm trying to decide between the Bay Suite at the Mandalay Bay or a Standard Suite at Delano. Which would you choose any why and when was the last time they refurbished the rooms on the Mandalay Bay Side?

As i never stayed in Mandalay bay itself , i did stay in Delano 2 times in 2015 and 2016

And i can vouch for the fact that Delano is AWESOME, nice suite with seperate bedroom, bathroom and living room. everything is clean , although the colors in the room are white steril big.

plus point is that it really gives me the feeling i am escaping the busy strip.

u can also use all of Mandalay Bay's things ! Especially he awesome pool :)

also you are very close to the casino , u step out of the elevator walk past Michael Jackson ONE and boom your in the casino !

i would ask for a high floor strip view , u get a awesome view when your on top of the Delano :)

We've stayed at both Delano and MB

We prefer MB - we get a resort king and it's just fine for the 2 of us. The separate bedroom / sitting room is nice at Delano but unless theres more then 2 of you - say kids or another couple - not worth it.

Delano is a much further walk to the pools
Theres 1 or 2 restaurants in Delano? So you end up going to MB for almost everything anyway
The Delano valet is in the parking garage - just a different experience. It's nice to use valet via MB's port / much prettier.
If your a smoker (I am) - MB is a further walk to outside - obviously, you can smoke in the casino - but my favorite thing to do is get up in the morning, go get coffee at Starbucks and go down to the pool and site there for a few smokes early in the morning.
I feel the view is better from MB rooms - Delano - the view is more of Luxor / Excalibur - where MB you can get a better view of the strip or the pools
Delano has a private pool to Delano in the MB pool complex (so does 4 seasons) - Delano people can use theirs or MB's, MB can only use MB. Not a big deal but that pool might be quieter - the music is all around so no escaping that.
Theres much more foot traffic at MB especially during club nights (thursday, friday, saturday) - but we've never had a problem getting the elevators - if nothing else, it's fun to see all the people come through - never huge crowds - we stayed once when there was a convention and still, it wasn't bad - nothing like you get at Bellagio or Mirage.
MB is much more happening at night / people walking around at the bars, restaurants, etc... Delano is just a tower; your there to sleep basically. Not much to do there otherwise.
We stayed 3 or 4 years ago at Delano when it was called THE Hotel - the rooms may have changed - they were very modern - dark wood, grey, etc... MB rooms are more earth tone ish... I think their prettier / nicer.
I recall MB rooms getting refreshed just 2 years ago - we got one of the refreshed rooms last time - I don't know when the last time Delano has been refreshed.

Either way - if your fans of pools - MB / Delano has the best pools IMO. The lazy river; the wave pool; the jacuzzi's - their perfect for us. We often argue what to do - lazy river, wave pool or just chill, lol... or do all 3!

    </2 cents>

Delano for sure. I've stayed at MB 4 times and Delano 6 times and prefer Delano.

Reasons for Delano (mostly minor things)
    • The suite is nice as it adds an extra door to the bedroom and you don't hear any noise in the hallway.
    • Rarely have to wait for an elevator as opposed to MB.
    • Delano Private Pool
    • There's a small shelf in the Delano fridge for a few beers/waters.
The walk from Delano isn't that bad, it's maybe 5ish minutes from room to entrance of the pool. You can also cut through valet to get to the restaurants quicker (probably a faster walk then if you were staying at MB).

Mandalay Bay's rooms were renovated fairly recently, I think it was completed in 2015?

Hands down Delano. We've stayed at MB multiple times in the past 17 years and probably 10 times at Delano since its transition from THEhotel. The Delano suite has an extra half-bath in addition to the master bath.

Most women appreciate the extra space in the suite (725 sqft at Delano vs 565 in the Bay Suite) and a calmer elevator lobby.

BTW extra space in a suite is never wasted :wink2:

No question about this... Delano!! It's so funny that people seem to think it's such a huge walk. It's just a walk across the casino is all. So what? You would walk further staying in MGM! I'm biased since I just had horrible customer service at Mandalay Bay, but and their rooms cannot compare to the rooms at Delano. Plus you get an extra half bathroom and almost no wait for the elevator, much quieter and a spa like feel to this side of the property and a much more relaxed feel to it. I have always had excellent customer service at Delano... I agree with KellyLovesVegas... hands down Delano!!

Well that seems like a consensus I went in and booked the Delano. I've been in that tower when it was the Hotel but had forgotten about the quick valet access and additional pool option that put it over the top for me. Thank you all for the help

If you're returning to the property via the tram, it may be only a couple handfuls of steps closer to Delano. If you're returning via the walkway, then Delano is closer to get to. For me, that distance is negligible. Once we're in in the building, I consider it "home".

Here's a unique take: my association's conference is at Mandalay Bay next month. When they sent out housing forms where you could rank your preference, everybody put Mandalay Bay. After all, the conference is *held* there. But I chose Delano, soI could have my one bedroom apartment away from the hustle and bustle, while still walking only slightly farther to start my day at MB. I didn't tell a soul, because I was afraid they'd all choose Delano instead of MB.

So in terms of putting my money where my mouth is, that's what I chose, and why.
