Slots What to Play????!!!!

I recently walked around the slot area of the casino( being a BJ player) and was overwhelmed by the many machines. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I don't know where to even start! I was unimpressed by some of the fancy video machines like the Britney Spears one, however. Any suggestions where I might win a little something without having to spend ten bucks on a pull?

 

stick to bj. slots are fun to play but they death by a thousand cuts. the house advantage on slots is ridiculous. That being said if you want to play stay away from penny especially the tv show movie slots

 

3 Reel, 1 Dollar denomination, Double or triple Diamond.

no fancy bonuses but you can get nice hits on them

 

If you're going to play slots, stick to 3-reel, avoid video, penny slots. I always play $1.00 denomination machines.

However, I prefer BJ. $300 on $1 machines is gone in 17 mins or less.

 

I hate slots.

But once a trip I hit the high limit room and slide a $100 into a $25 machine, usually one of those 3-reel red, white, and blue 7s machines.

It ends up being a exhilarating 20 seconds followed by instant mild regret. And it always succeeds in erasing any desire I have to play any slots again for the rest of my trip.

 

Another vote for the old-school three-reel machines. If you want a little more excitement then one of the "Top Dollar" or "Wheel of Fortune" three-reel machines (that isn't a wide-area progressive) will give you bonus rounds and still have a good payback for slots.

But as a BJ player, I love video poker, you get to learn a strategy like you do with BJ, so I find it much more interesting. And even the "terrible" pay-tables have better payback than 99% of slots machines.

 

This isn't directly a response to the OP, but as a primary blackjack player, I've found that those tv/movie themes penny slots with the 3D screens and the surround sound rumble chairs make for a nice diversion, and can help slow the bleeding if I'm having a rough day at the tables. I will pop in a $20 with the expectation that I'll probably lose it all, and play for 20-30 minutes. I'm getting entertainment value for my dollar, with a chance of a small win to boot.

 

Find one of the themed slot machines like Hangover, the Holy Grail, Airplane, Iron Man...essentially one that catches your eye.

 

I love Willy Wonka slots , Walking Dead, LOTR 3 reel, basically all themed slots

 

I'd say play what sounds fun to you. Use BJ as your money maker, and slots as pure entertainment...play what appeals to you, and treat it as a decompress period.

Ive bombed on "tried and true" 3 reel slots that many swear by, and I've had great runs on themed games.

Personally, I am a slots "player" but I see them as entertainment, not investment. I dont spend more than i am totally ok losing. They're a casinos cash cow for a reason.

Some are definitely better than others, but they're like ice cream, what tastes great to one tastes terrible to another, just play what you enjoy!

PS I usually avoid themed games, but, despite not being a Brittany fan, the Brittany Spears game was probably the most fun game I've ever played, and had the best hot streaks! I also thought it looked dumb, but it was a blast.

I just wanted big sunglasses to wear when I played it, as I definitely was a bit chagrined. When it hits a hot spell though, the bonuses are great, and you can bet 60 cents a spin I believe...

I also really like some Quick Hit games, but there are a ton of versions. I avoid QH platinum, QH cash spin, etc. As the extra icons just mess up the odds IMHO. AND those are games you definitely need to bet max, so stick to 1.50 max bet if you want lighter bets. Also, fair warning, I've loved them in the past, but as they're gotten more popular, the are starting to seem tighter to me recently... so an ounce of caution. If it seems tight, get off.

PS, use your card. They might be a casino cash cow, but they also earn comps way quicker than tables. If you're going to spend the money anyways, benefit from it.

 

One thing to bear in mind about certain themed slots is that they earn tier points at a slower rate than non-themed. I believe this is something to do with the licensing cost associated with the use of copyrighted material. If you want to maximise your tier point earnings, avoid the movie/tv/pop star machines.

 

I night suggest that you start with a sample of the reel type slots and the video slots and see what you like better. Even though many of them are so-called "penny" slots, they will often have a minimum spin that is the better part of a dollar. If you look you can find some that have a lower minimum. Just play for a while and you'll see fairly soon if you like it or don't. If you don't, cash out and move to another. Almost all casinos will have a good selection of several types.

Appreciate the info. I was simply overwhelmed by the quantity of slots available- didn't know where to sit down! When I finally did plop down(at the machine that was in front of me) I DID notice how quickly the points were adding up as opposed to BJ! I will seek out the above as a change of pace next visit!

 

Willy Wonka 3 reel and Willy Wonka Pure Imagination are a couple of my favorites. I also like to go to a basic 3 reel dollar machine like Diamonds or 7's, put in $200, with a max bet is $2 or $3 a pull.

 

Stay away from the big loud branded feature games (e.g. "Ellen", "Game of Thrones", "Britney", etc.) and anything progressive. Avoid all the crazy video sh*t, a billion playlines, etc. etc. Play the highest denomination your bankroll will support because generally speaking, the higher the denomination, the lower the house hold. If you're interested in some data porn you can always go to the Nevada Gaming Commission web site. Casinos are required to report revenue and house hold on their machines, aggregated by denomination.

 

I like playing Double Diamond, Wheel of Fortune and Top Dollar) and, in my opinion, video machines are quite exciting things but don't spend a lot of time playing them, they're good only for entertainment.

Some people really like playing the machines that are better at payouts (older 3 reel mentioned above). Some prefer machines with bells and whistles.

 

Any machine with a licensed theme is thought to have a lower payback percentage than a generic branded machine due to licensing fees.

I have found this to be true by my experiences.
