Wynn Tower Suites or Mandarin??

So I have one night solo coming up in April and I'm thinking of getting pampered for a day before moving over to Harrah's with the rest of the crew. I've narrowed it down to 2 options:

• Wynn Tower Suites. Standard suite at $309 for the one night.
• Mandarin Oriental. Standard room at $259 but includes upgrade if available and $100 spa credit

I've stayed at Wynn TS before and it was by far my favorite hotel in Vegas. But MO intrigues me with all the rave reviews. And I'll be getting a massage at either place, so the spa credit would certainly be useful.

Has anybody stayed at both places? Any experiences and/or preferences would be helpful! Cheers.

 

I can only give a big thumbs up for the Mandarin. I like that it DOESN'T have a casino, so it's a very upscale, oasis in the ultimate town for bon vivants. I've only stayed in a standard room at the Wynn and it was 90% as nice as the MO as I recall. But they are as different as night or day. The level of service at the MO and the staff's sincere interest in your satisfaction are like nothing else in Vegas.

I was going to go back to Aria and stay in Sky Suite next month, but switched over to the MO.

I have not stayed at the MO but have enjoyed the spa and tea there. I have stayed at Wynn once and used the spa there and have stayed at Encore many times. It is now my home base.

You didn't mention Encore but IMO the Encore spa is the best on the strip. I really liked the MO spa and the fact that you are in the spa pools high up and can look out but I didn't like that it was on two floors so I had to walk up one floor to get my service. It is a very nice spa though, probably my second favorite in Vegas, primarily because of the view.

Since you have some sense of the Wynn vibe maybe see what rate you can get for Encore. I mention staying at Encore because I think there is some weird rule about how if you stay at Wynn you have to jump through hoops to use the Encore spa. I'm not sure just if that's still the case but spaing where you are staying is better anyway.

In any event, all three are great options though I MUCH prefer the Encore spa over the Wynn spa.

 

No hoops at all for me, but I've always had a massage when I've gone. Not sure if that changes things.

Amen. There's a lot to be said about the spa being only an elevator ride away, especially when you just want to nap right after.

 

Getting a service I am sure changes things. Hadn't thought about that. Sometimes I use a spa just to enjoy the water and dteam room facilities and I pay the daily fee. Maybe in that instance you have to stick with your hotel spa.

 

Thanks everyone! Very helpful. I'm leaning towards trying the MO this time around. I love Wynn and they usually get my business, but the 2X craps odds is really making me consider finding another go-to resort. MO is more centrally located with better gaming options nearby.

Can you please tell me more about the tea part? We enjoy an afternoon tea time with finger foods, etc. Is this what youre talking about and how does it compare to Petrossian at Bellagio (if youve bee there for tea time)?

 

Yes, MO serves a traditional afternoon tea. I have enjoyed the afternoon tea at Petrossian, especially the live piano music and if you like to people watch. The MO tea area is bigger, not crowded and has a great view, but there is no live music. The surroundings were more calm so to speak so MO felt like a slightly more elegant tea experience.

Enjoy! And, though I am a hefty eater, the amount of food in the tea service was a lot even for me. That's apparently not unusual as my server expected I would want to take the remainder with me and packed it nicely in a to go box. It was nice enjoying some mini tea desserts later that day in my room.

 

I have stayed a both and love both of them. Both spas are top rated. Service is great at both but I thing MO is a tad better. Pools are great but I thing MO is a tad better. Love the bar at MO. Overall if looking at more low key go for MO. At MO expect to spend more time off site due to limited overall option with restaurants/Aria. Wynn wins if you want to stay onsite and more option restaurants. Both are great can't go wrong...
