Haven’t read too much about Yardbird on VMB. (It does seem to get pretty good reviews elsewhere, though.)

I’m trying to fill in the gaps in my dining line up for my upcoming trip and am looking for a nice but casual place to pencil in for Saturday or Sunday night. Yardbird seems it might fit the bill. What say you, VMB?

I went there. I liked the vibe, the food was filling and they had local beer, a plus for me. I don't remember the cost because I didn't pay for it. I think I was pretty stuffed but I'm not sure if I was blown away much. I think I thought it was good but not great.

By the way, in my former work life at a recording studio I worked with Paul Samwell-Smith, bassist for the Yardbirds who later became a successful producer. Nice guy!

How bad is it that I'm trying to remember if I've eaten there or not. I feel like I did because we were there when it opened and we had coupons from the front desk for it. But I don't know what to say about it. I do know that the menu looks good and my cousin went there recently and said it was worth the trip.

I like the ambiance, a lot more casual and laid back.

The place left me flat. Pretty simple formula but they didn't bring the goods. I know many many others have had far different experiences.

Just OK. Nothing memorable about it.

Not too many ringing endorsements, I see!

Thanks for the responses, guys (gals). If I end up going - not too likely at this point(!) - I'll report back my impressions.

Okay...follow up...how 'bout a suggestion for an alternative? Good food, not too "stuffy" of an environment (already have plenty of fancier joints on the docket for this trip, need somewhere we'll be comfy in jeans/polos).

Open to any and all suggestions w/re: cuisine/price - but strip location or <15 min. cab/Uber ride from Cosmo preferable.

There are many other choices inside the Venetian. Italian- Trattoria Reggiano, Canaletto, Otto, Buddy V (its not as bad as people make it out to be). Variety cuisine- Grand Luxe, B&B.

Meh. I ate there and it was okay. Service was good and prices were in line with what other restaurants like that on the strip charge. I had a cheeseburger with a tad of BBQ on top. I might go back but I would never go out of my way to go there again.

Grand Luxe was much, much better. I would definitely go back there again.

I dined there this past September and was under whelmed with the food. The breading on their signature Southern fried chicken was over done and over spiced. Everything was ala carte. $28 for four pieces of fried chicken...really? I had a salad, the fried chicken, cheese grits, green beans and a cocktail...total bill was $85. I will say that my waiter was outstanding. This restaurant is a "one and done" deal for me. I did receive an e-mail from them the other day, offering me a free appetizer if I dined with them by the end of this month...no thanks.

I have to disagree with the majority of the respondents to this post. My wife and I ate there on a Sunday evening in early November before going to a show at the Wynn. We had the fried chicken, mac & cheese, and biscuits and thought that everything was great. Then we finished it off with the peach cobbler, which was outstanding. Note that the sides are not meant to be single-serving, so if you're by yourself you'll likely get more than you can eat. We found that for the two of us the one order of chicken (4 pieces) and the sides were more than we could finish. Our meal was $140 (with tip and a few drinks), which didn't seem out of line to me (for Vegas). While we don't find ourselves that far north on the strip very often, we're likely to go back when we do.

I'm not picky at all and very rarely am outright displeased with any meal I eat and this place was by far the worst meal I've ever had in Las Vegas - I absolutely must believe that it was just an off night because the fried chicken was unbelievably dry and everything else was just ok. You could have a far better meal and order basically the same things at Grand Lux in the same building.

Wouldn't go there again. I was with a group and we let the waiter order for us. I don't remember what we had but it wasn't that great.

Call me crazy but $160 for two people to eat fried chicken and have a couple adult beverages is wacky

$28 for four pieces of fried chicken :bang:

I understand it's vegas but whew!!!!

Walk over to the Linq and try hash house a go-go. Lots of good food, reasonable prices for the Strip.

We were there on a Monday noonish in October and regretfully left before ordering due to the noise. The dining room, while nice, was just too uncomfortably loud for me. I think they need some sort of noise-deadening baffles on the walls.....or something.

Disappointing. I was looking forward to trying their menu.

Have you considered Javier's at Aria? Coming from Houston I think the price point is a little high for Mexican food but it is probably in line for the Strip. I have had excellent service at the bar. The chips and salsa are very good, the margaritas are great (get either the tamarind or the pineapple (piña)) and the vibe is loud and casual. I particularly liked the carnitas.

I thought it was really good food, but over priced to a degree

I like Yardbird. I ordered way to much food early November when I was there with my SIL. It was only 2 of us and all the food barely fit on the table. Lol The deviled eggs and their version of a BLT with a fried green tomatoes is awesome. [IMG]
