In my experience, you cannot use an MRB coupon without having an MRB book. Others may have had limited success with this, but the casino employees know you are supposed to remove the coupon from the book in front of them. You can always try the "play dumb" route and say you left the book in your room because you were afraid to lose it, but it might not work.
