Both places are great but if they're the same price I'd choose Wynn in a heartbeat...

Depends on how much you value atmosphere and location.

To break this down in categories like UKFanatic:

Atmosphere: Aria is more traversed and caters to a younger crowd, so the atmosphere is more vibrant, especially at the tables. Wynn's atmosphere is much more subdued, which does help if you prefer your stay to be more relaxed and quiet.

Gaming: I'm not much of a gambler myself, but I find the tables to be more fun at the Aria than at the Wynn, mostly by virtue of the atmosphere. However, I have run into many more inexperienced players at the Aria due to the younger crowd, though.

Location: Aria has the much better location if you like walking around the strip and exploring different hotels. If you're staying at the Wynn, you're probably not going to venture much further than the Wynn/Encore, Venetian/Palazzo, and the Fashion Show mall. Based on what you wrote in your post, Aria is much better than the Wynn for you in this aspect.

Dining: Wynn blows Aria out of the water in this category. Aria's restaurants just don't pay much attention to detail in all aspects, and the difference is just too noticeable when comparing the two. In addition, I place an emphasis on both the quality and quantity of the food, and at Aria, I've only ever gotten one or the other. At the Wynn, almost all of the time, I've gotten both.

Luxury: I don't think anyone can debate that Wynn is the clear winner in this category. You can tell that the design of everything in the Wynn was meticulously planned. Aria looks like someone slapped some cool-looking concepts together and thought that would make a good design. Plus, the service at the Wynn is butt-kissingly good compared to what you get at the Aria.

Price: While you mentioned that the rooms are around the same price, Wynn is definitely more expensive compared to Aria for everything else. To some people, it's overpriced, but if I spend the time and money to go to Vegas, I want the more luxurious experience, which is why I personally prefer the Wynn. I also feel like I get nickel and dimed every time I go to the Aria, which puts a sour taste in my mouth.

It may just have been me dragging my feet when i walk but all the electronics at the Aria (windows, door key pad, elevator button) always static shocked me. I hated touching anything there.

My suggestion is if you can afford and are comfortable to spend big $$ stay at wynn. As others mentioned, Wynn is more luxurious and brings in wealthier people.

Its not uncommon to see $1,000 BJ hands on the main floor and i tend to see more celebrities at Wynn.

Agree with the majority of your points.
I'm an Aria regular and you are right that you cannot debate that Wynn is the winner in the luxury category.
Also like your point about Price which implies if your paying good money....go where you feel good about it.

I do however, think it is hyperbole to say that Wynn "blows Aria out of the water" in dining.
The restaurant selection at both resorts is top notch with Aria upgrading their lineup over the past year adding Bardot,Carbone and Herringbone.
BarMasa at Aria can no longer compete with Mizumi but they will upgrade that within a year.
JS is a unique top 20 restaurant and Wynn has nothing in that category. One of my favorites.
SW is better than Jean Georges in both ambience and food.
Overall I still think it is a close call.

In terms of gaming,I ended up at Aria as I simply get a lot more for my play there than I ever got at Wynn.
The whole PGP thing is starting to be a distraction at Aria with the future of tickets for drinks at bartop VP.
Wynn has never comped drinks for bartop VP players.

Can't go wrong with either one but based on what you've said Aria would get my vote. We usually stay at both properties when we visit Vegas.

Free rooms for us at Aria every time, even on our first stay. It would be paid rooms at Wynn, so we've always gone Aria and love it.

Not sure how Wynn is on follow-up promos, but we've found Aria is really generous....this will be our third stay there and haven't paid once...and the service is great. (And I'm a mid-roller, not a high-roller.)

Not sure how Wynn is on follow up promos, but this only is a factor if you care about potential free nights on future trips. Either should be great!

The reason I would choose Aria as far as dining goes, is because there seems to be more economical food establishments in its proximity like for pizza and burgers. I only hit high-end dining establishments perhaps a couple of times per trip, and I don't have to choose a place in Aria; I could choose to dine at Cosmo or Bellagio also. And I can choose any number of casinos around Aria for gambling.

    Aria

It's location kills Wynncore and everything other category is close.

Wynncore's location sucks. There's NOTHING just past Wynncore and across the street is the mall I don't care about that has NOTHING just past it.

I can walk from Aria through Vdara (quickly) to the Bellagio then easily to Flamingo Rd and the Strip (intersection of Caesars, Cromwell, Ballys).
I can walk from Aria through the Monte Carlo to Park Ave and the Strip (intersection of NYNY and MGM Grand)
I can walk from Aria through Crystals to Harmon Ave and the Strip (intersection of Cosmo and Planet Hollywood) and there 3 walkways over one intersection
(Crystals--->Cosmo over Harmon, Cosmo--->Planet Hollywood over the Strip, Planet Hollywood (Miracle Mile Shops)--->Harley Davidson over Harmon again.)

    That area is alive.

The only area on par with liveness is the Harrah's/Linq area.

    Thanks for all your comments.

I don't know if it's made my decision easier or harder!:haha::haha:

To make matters worse,I have now been able to find the Cosmo Belligio fountain room for after £500 more (10 nights) than the two rooms mentioned in the op.

Based on this new info are any of you going with the Cosmo? I guess at £50 a night,it kinda seems like a fair price.

For the same price I would chose Wynn or Aria.
Personally,I found other things about the resorts more important than the great view from the terrace.
Lots of Cosmo fans on here but I'm not a huge fan.
I eat in the restaurants there and occasionally play in the casino.I just do not like staying there.

Cosmo is the best hotel on the strip, imo. You pretty much gain all the advantages of location I mentioned with Aria. You are a bit closer to the Strip tho' BUT you are not "connected" to other properties like with Aria.

I find the older crowd doesn't like Cosmo as much (many of my older friends). Simply put tho', the rooms are better than Wynn's.

The Wynn and Aria get pluses for the floor to ceiling windows.

The Wynn gets a plus for its room's brightness. Beige and white.

Cosmo has the location, view, and the rooms don't seem like regular hotel rooms.

Are you getting the Terrace Studio or Terrace One Bedroom Suite?

    This is the studio

This is the one bedroom suite (complete beast of a room)

You can't go wrong with either one. Having a balcony crushes this. I have the same mindset for cruises....gotta have a balcony.
