Back from the Bellagio

We've stayed here for several years and I do love to people watch.

Seen/heard at the pool:


a)There are reserved seats at the pool. The pool boys set them up prior to the actual opening of the pool and put a RESERVED sign on them. There were reserved seats next to us and a man came down just before 10 and looked around. He saw the reserved seats, looked at his watch and stood between the two seats so close that his calf was touching the seat. I have seen disclaimers at various hotels that a lounge left vacant for an hour or two would be considered free. Within a minute, two people came into the pool, excused themselves and sat at the two chairs. The first man left. I was thinking that since those chairs were vacant for a while--- even with a reserved sign, man #1 was going to take them once it went past 10.


b) Two couples came into the pool, took four free chairs that were in the sun. They were speaking Russian and were very loud. The alpha male began to look around, saw that some of the chairs had umbrellas. There was one behind him, but the chairs were very obviously taken----books, shoes, lotion were all piled on the chairs while the couple went into the pool. He walked up, grasped the umbrella and pulled it. Of course at the B, they are cemented in the ground and not movable. I laughed that he was intending to take their umbrella because he wanted one and the hell with them.

c) A very attractive young woman took a chair, dropped her bag and coverup on the chair and walked around the pool.....Ok, nothing odd there. However, as she circled the pool, she was saying "If somebody would pay me, I could get wet."
She made two circles around pool, stood by her chair for a while and then moved across the walk way to the next pool.

Draw your own conclusions.

 

People can sometimes be something else . . .

It's not unusual. In fact, swimming pool is a good place for hookers to do business.
And I assume "wet" has multiple meanings.

 

I really hate it when people do stuff like this. I'm glad he wasn't able to steal the umbrella; what a jerk.

 

Unfortunately that's the way of the current society, no manners any more. It's sickening.

 

So how did you understand her if she was speaking Russian?
Oh, and how would anyone know if she is or isnt wet as she is in the pool, which is, well... wet!

Sounds like Bellagio has a very entertaining pool scene. Remember a several years back the Sapphire pool at Rio busted a bunch of hookers.

 

I had a couple towels on my chair (at Bellagio) and stuff under the chair, the table between us had stuff on it and my husbands chair had stuff on it. A guy came up with his stuff, and a couple wadded up towels and just dropped them on my chair. We immediately said something and he picked them up and walked away. Odd. Needless to say, I took my towels and got fresh ones! I just don't get people. We were in the pool right in front of the chairs!

 

Strange. It isnt just Vegas though. I see lack of consideration for others all the time here in my city whether intentional and malicious, or just not caring enough or paying attention.
One thing I dislike a lot is people littering anywhere. I hate it.
I try to be considerate to others but I do realize once in awhile, we do miss our blind spots in these cases. So I try not to really judge the situation, but sometimes it may be really obvious like in the original post. Weird!

 

You should have pulled out $5 and walked up to her, hand her the five spot, and shoved her in the pool. She wanted to get paid to get wet right?

 

As gotChopin mentioned it's not just Vegas. It does seem to be universal. (cruises too). As OP mentioned, I try to make my lounge chair visibly taken, towels on, hat maybe attached to the seat, my sunbag (lotions, water) actually attached to the seat (I wind it around pretty good, lotion at the pool is pretty expensive!) , if I need to jump in the pool or washroom trip. I'm not a chair abuser, but If I have to ever leave for longer (slot tournament play, which doesn't take long) I let the people beside me know I should be no longer than 40-45 minutes. One incident at MBay (although could be anywhere) I didn't get down to pool till 11:45, took a while to find two chairs, all day sun, although they did have two fresh folded towels on them, had not been used, no other personal items, prime seats at pools edge. I asked lifeguard behind me if anyone was using the chairs, he said he hadn't seen anyone for hours. People next to the 2 chairs, same thing,,nope..haven't seen anyone in them. My friend and I gave it a go. So, at NOON, a gentleman and lady gave us major doodoo. "WE GOT DOWN HERE AT 8:30 AM TO PUT TOWELS ON OUR CHAIRS, these are OUR chairs." I said, so for over 3.5 hours, you have denied the cocktail waitress any sales? Coffee? Drinks? Lunch menu?This is prime real estate. We had more words, but we left. Another one that bugs me is when people LEAVE THE POOL, pick up your towels and put them in the towel bins. It frees up seats so no one has to ask. (one thing I like on cruises is you have to sign out your pool/onshore towels, so when you leave your lounge chair, you take your towel with you to return, cause you don't want to be charged for it. Towel Management..I like it).

 

I don't think that two towels with other no personal items would be enough to claim a chair. If my rear was in that chair, I certainly would not have gotten up for them.

 

It was one of those, he was pretty adamant, and loud, and I certainly got several likes through clapping when I mentioned,,,you haven't been here for 3 hours? And the cocktail waitresses haven't had the pleasure of your company?...(it was two mere older women vs a man and his lady. I'm an old time MB girl since 03...I decided to just let it go. I'm not there to make a fuss..) He wasn't nice. Let it go. Thanks for the up though.

 

I agree! If they can't leave some personal items, they don't want to save them that bad.
