I walked into my local Casino for free play Wednesday, expecting a $5 free play, but to my pleasant , there was a box of scratch off free play cards!:) I asked The Player's Club if I qualified for it, and was told "yes," :) There was one scratch off card in particular that seemed to scream "Pick me, pick me!" so I picked it to scratch. Lo and behold, it was a $50 free play ticket! :D

Even the Player's Club Employee was genuinely shocked and said something like "Holy crap, wow, you just won $50 in free play! Congratulations!" On top of that I won $5 extra for free play Wednesday:D I thanked her and played about $45 of it, and turned it into about $35 into cash. I played $5 in the Lottery and am going home with $30 of it of the Casino money! :D What an extremely pleasant surprising Comp that was! Expected $5 in free play, got $55 free play! :D

So, what are pleasantly surprising Comps you have gotten? :D

Maybe 25 years ago my wife and I were staying in a tower room at the El Cortez and heading down the elevator to grab breakfast. The elevator stopped on one floor and an older gentleman in a suit gets on and asks us if we are going to breakfast. We tell him yes and he hands us a card good for breakfast for two. We both thank him and head to the cafe not really thinking much about the comp since breakfast for two there might run $10.

It was a few months later I saw a picture of the man who handed us the comp and it was the legendary Jackie Gaughan. Very cool to be able to say that he comped us personally!

Around '99 or 2000 I headed to my friends' place for xmas as usual. This was the 24th and I planned on staying until Jan 2nd. When I got in Bob told me to plan on eating at Sam's Town all week. They were changing their rewards program (I think they were integrating LV Boyd properties) and comp points not used by Dec 31st would be lost. We ate once at Jose and Willy's and three times each at Billy Bob's and Papamios (the old Italian place). Neither Bob or Sue is a wine lover, but we had a bottle each night with dinner. Comp points we didn't use purchased cigs for them. In fact I used my meager comps to buy them a carton each. These weren't my comps, but they were unexpected!

    Good Luck!

I had two comped tickets to KA at MGM, I figured they would be crumby nose-bleed seats...turned out they were center stage, 11 rows back. Was pleasantly surprised that the seats were good

This is my most recent pleasant comp surprise from 3 weeks ago. I had made reservations on-line for a regular room (comped) at Harrah's New Orleans. At check-in, the clerk said "I have you coming in for three nights in a suite". Without blinking an eye, I replied "that is correct". When we got up there, we were in a corner suite with views of the river from the living room/dining room and of the casino from the bedroom. It was a very nice two room suite and that was a pleasant surprise.

We were in Atlantic City having lunch at the Irish Pub with my Brother and Sister in law and recounting the events of the previous evening, we were all sad that the overnight trip was nearing its end. We had stayed at the Trop in comped rooms. Someone had a great idea that we should stay another night, so we checked CET for comps, and we were able to get two rooms at Bally's. The surprise was that we had checked the offer calendar the day before and there were no comp rooms available.

On our first visit to Wynn my wife and I signed up for the Red Card and they had a promo to spin the wheel. Wife spun the wheel and received 2 free meals at Society cafe. I spun the wheel and win 2 free buffets.
    That was our pleasant surprise.

Checking into the Flamingo 2 years ago - the girl at check in said
my host had left me 2 tickets to Seinfeld for my next trip.
I invited my friend from California to go - gave me a good excuse
for another quick trip to Vegas.... They were great seats
right in the center in front of the stage. My friend and I had a great
dinner at Palm and then went to the show. Unexpected and very nice.
He put on a great show too. Nice evening.

Another time while staying at the Palazzo - a girl with a clipboard approached me
while I was playing and said I had won 2 tickets to Blue Man Group. I said I was with
some other friends and she ponied up 4 more tickets so all 6 of us got to go free.
Great seats and we really enjoyed it. Totally unexpected.

one of my old host in vegas, everytime id ask for something, he could do it but id have to charge to my room so it wasnt ever free, finally he surprised me when I asked for 2 tickets to a big comedy show at CP during the mayweather/pac weekend...nice seats and he said he would cover it.

last trip in march I asked my current host out there for 2 tickets to see pitbull at PH, she said no problem, when I went to get the tickets, they had me in for 4 tickets..so some people with us who didnt have the money got to go for free

a great show in new orleans, but not where I wanted to be for said comedian, I ask host for tickets to see Anthony Jeselnik inside harrahs theater...I got two tickets front row, center stage

many others but those stand out

One trip to Mandalay Bay I had a 4 night reservation through a host for a regular room, but I was coded for VIP check-in. VIP put me in a Sky View suite on 62 looking right up the strip. Awesome.

add this one that happened this morning...went to harrahs new orleans and online there are no rooms available, hit the host office and they said a few rooms popped up and were quickly booked at sheraton and le meridian but marriott has 5 rooms open, not a fan of the one here and the short walk but a room is a room...so got there late maybe around 1:30am...they are trying to confirm with harrahs ect, finally the lady says she needs her manager, took him a lil while to come down and he says them along with harrahs overbooked but they have me a room at the Marriott renaissance, i asked if it came with transportation, he said it sure does, he gave us $45 to take a cab about 6 blocks or so...i was drunk, took a $6 cab ride and pocketed the rest.

A long time ago, at the Silver Club, in Reno(Sparks), I was playing a penny slot, and a person tapped me on the shoulder, and said I had won a free Jennie-O turkey (Thanksgiving time promotion) and promptly handed me a frozen turkey...I had to go get a big styrofoam cooler and keep it on ice for that day...but it was a pretty good turkey.

Another time at Siena, in Reno, I spun a wheel at the players club, and of course landed on the worst prize ($1 slot play)..so later that day, I stuck my card in a machine to get my whopping $1....reader said I had $100 available balance (which was the ONE WHEELSLOT TOP PRIZE)...dunno how that got fucked up...but I promptly sucked the $100 out and left.

2 years back I was staying at The D. I usually have a good meal at their steak house, and just charge it to my room. Well, I had to check out early to get to the airport, and their systems were "backing up". No big deal, it's happened before. Get home, and my host emails me. Wanted to make sure I had a good time, and to let me know he comped everything that I charged to my room. It was a nice surprise.
Next trip he told me just to put the dinner on my room, and he'd comp it. This was even before I got there. I think this was a first for me. A nice pre-comp.

Hoping that Hunter can do something like that for me next trip. :)

I normally don't get many comps since I'm mostly a red chip player. I am luck and happy to get a comped meal. Over a year ago I had a monster roll at MSS (close to an hour) and made a lot of money for the pit crew (they probably made over $500 in tips during my roll) and the people on my table. That must have triggered something, the pit boss must have given me a good rating because I started to get offers for free nights and reduced rates that included meals.

But then it also had a downside because they took notice of me and my play. They noticed that my markers didn't really match the amount of losses I had so they questioned why I would take out markers when I wasn't losing that much (I was taking the markers out to pay for all of my vegas expenses). On my last trip in March my LOC had been reduced; I found out when I tried to take out more than my new limit and management came up to me to question my markers. I'm a little afraid when I go back to see what my limit will be but I would expect they would be checking on my play a little more than normal.

Most of my play is at CET, so I was very surprised in 2011 to get a comp for Eagles tickets at MGM. They are my favorite group. I never had any tickets to any venue at any MGM property before or since from CET. So I would say this was my most pleasant surprise comp.

Most surprising was when I sent my then CET host an email asking if he could get me information on who I would talk to about tickets to Johnny Lang in Tunica. He emailed me back as one of his friends was a host there & we received 2 VIP tickets with open bar to see him. Great show! All my Vegas shows are 'pay' unless they are on an offer, so this was a great surprise.

Booked a stay at MGM several years ago for a basic room with 2 queens. Hadn't stayed there for a while but they still offered me 3 nights and @ $150 free play. Arrived late and my wife and kids weren't in the best moods.
For some reason the girl at check-in gave us a Skyline Marquee Suite (1500 sq feet) at no additional charge. We didn't know it until we got to the room. This suite was amazing. 180 degree strip view. My wife's sister joined us the next morning (she arrived in the morning while we were all still asleep.) The suite is so large that none of us could hear her knocking haha.

Again, not sure why she gave us that suite- if anything, my offers have been getting lighter with MLife. But if we ever have a group of people in Vegas at the same time, this would be the suite to go with!
