I am active in both CET and in MLife. I will be staying at a CET hotel this weekend but I do not yet know how much I will play there as I will have my mother with me. I have over $600 in MLife Express comps. I think I know how CET works but I am pretty ignorant about MLife and wonder if anyone had some experience or insight.

I know that using my CET Total Rewards card on anything "trips" me and may reduce my future CET comps (lower my ADT) if I do not play that day. But I may take my family to a nice MLife restaurant and use my Express Comps, I do not expect to play at a MLife casino this trip. Will use of Mlife Express Comps "trip" me in a way that will reduce my future Mlife offers or will it have no affect as I as just using MLife Comp points I have already accumulated?

Thanks in advance for the answer.

I'm Mlife only but based on what I have read this board use of express comps would count as a trip and show up as a no play trip which would negatively impact future offers.

Yes, it will count as a gaming day, and affect your ADT with mLife.

I was curious about this too, and my initial instinct would be to say yes, but my experience says maybe not.

Early in 2015, I had a two-night stay at MGM Grand, Saturday and Sunday night, and played my normal amount while I was there. On Monday I moved to Cosmo. On Wednesday night, I went to see Zumanity at NYNY with tickets I had purchased in advance, and used Express Comps to pay for dining at Gallagher's at NYNY. I didn't play at all while I was on the property.

If it counted, I would have expected that to significantly affect my offers, but I didn't see any change in offers that came out after the period in which that trip should have been included in the calculation.

So I'm not sure I want to flat out say "no," but it didn't seem to in my example.

As for CET, Hunter has pretty much said straight up that using rewards credits triggers a gaming day.

CET uses each day to figure ADT.
Mlife uses your entire trip - over a certain number of days. So, in the above example, your use of Express comps a few days later may not have impacted your ADT at all.

Also, even if that had been the ONLY use of comp dollars, you may have lowered your adt, but still in the same "range" of offers and would not see the change.

I would go with the first explanation though.

You are gonna have to show me the algebra on the whole MLife "trip" concept. If you do, you'll be the first one who's ever done it.

I agree it's theoretically possible to stay within the same bracket of offers, but I would expect the example I gave to have reduced my ADT for that trip by either 25% or 33%, depending on whether MLife automatically counts checkout day or not. That's pretty significant.

I had also read, somewhere on this board, that an mlife trip is considered 7 days.

The only way that means anything to me is if, the very first time you ever recorded activity on your account, you essentially started a never-ending series of 7 day cycles.

And any activity (including use of comps on a day where you do not stay or play) triggers a gaming day for purposes of calculating your ADT for that 7 day period, or "trip". Any 7 day period in which there is no activity has no ADT and doesn't count in anything.

And in calculating offers, each newer 7 day period where an ADT exists carries much more weight than the ones prior to it.

That would be the simplest way to think about it, but it has implications, such as, you stay for 8 nights, and you don;t play at all on night 8. You might have a good ADT for the first 7 nights, but now you're on a new trip, and you zero played it.

There's no way they just slap a 7 in the denominator to figure out your ADT when you only stay 2 nights and don;t do anything else at MGM while you're there.

That's why I think the whole "trip" thing is like an urban legend. I've been reading this board for 7 years and nobody's ever given an example.

The same thing goes for counting checkout day if you have no activity, I don't think they count it. Whether you are paying or getting a comp, it's for nights. On checkout day, someone else is (or can be) in the room that night. Your theo should be measured against the cost of the room nights.

On a 1 night stay, counting checkout day cuts your ADT by 1/2.
    2 nights, 1/3
    3 nights, 1/4, etc etc.
