Southwest drink coupons - transferable?

Well after being completely swamped at work for the past couple months (yay tax season!), I'm finally making a post here again.

We booked a trip to Vegas for end of the month (yay for short waiting periods). Someone suggested getting some SWA drink coupons off eBay to use on the flight. But I know they all have names on them. I suppose they are probably technically non-transferrable, but do they actually check names on the flights? Historically I'll get mini bottles and bring my own, but this is easier logistically.

The name doesn't matter. The name is just the person the coupons were originally sent to. Between all of the flights by myself, family & friends on SWA, we use about 50 a year. All are different names & expiration dates. Depending on the flight attendant, they have even taken a few that were expired. I get most of mine on EBay.

 

They dont check. Half the time they dont even collect them.

The coupons show first initial and the last name. So they do not indicate whether it is for a male or female. Also I have never seen a flight attendant check identify.

 

The names will not matter. Agree with Merlin in that they often will not collect them. They may at times check the expiration dates but that is about it.

 

Ok, so how do you actually GET/EARN drink coupons??

 

If you have the credit card they send them.

 

If you have a SWA credit card, they send you 4 on the anniversary date of your card.

VMB members sell them sometimes. Some great members even give them away. I know, I have been mailed some over the years for free.

Ebay always has sellers.

 

When I didn't receive my usual drink coupons last fall I called SWA - apparently they have changed the policy. Customer service told me that you need 10 one-way flight segments in a calendar year to qualify for coupons now....
