Am I not looking in the right place, or do the Boyd Treasure Chest machines not appear on VPfree? Any tips on where to find them?

I don't think they are in vpFREE2 but they probably should be since the return is supposedly about 99.5%. Anyway I believe all three downtown Boyd casinos have 25c and $1 Treasure Chest machines in the areas with the old coin-droppers (non-TITO).

Cal - near Main St. Bar
MSS - front of 777 Brew Pub
Fremont - near change booth beside keno

I'm sure others here are far more familiar with these than I am.

Not sure about Fremont, but yes on the locations at MSS & Cal

Treasure Chest machines pay a bonus for 4oak. The minimum was 250 credits, but, you could get 1,000 credits, which I did 3 times. Once you hit 4oak, 5 treasure chests popped up and you chose one. Then the random amount you won popped up.
TYPO I meant they paid 160 credits minimum on 4oak.

There used to be more TC machines on the other side of Fremont not far from the buffet, on the sports book side.

yup, if I remember right, the weightings are set so you seldom have a chance at the jackpot chest..
    The five amounts are 140-180-250-500-5000

Unless it changed, the largest amount is actually $1199 on quarters. (my husband got it about 12 or so years ago...it does exist!!)

Yeah this is right, except 4796 for quarters to avoid a W2.

The thread linked below hints that the odds of the jackpot chest is 1 in 400. If these chest weightings are the same as the thread, quarter return would be 99.56% at 8/5 and 99.58% at dollars. And considering some locations only offer a point per $3, the machine probably does have these weightings.

That site speculates about a 98.5 % return, but the percentages you list would go farther in explaining why they are $3 for one point at MSS. Though, they're not positive, so it seems like a bit of overreaction.

The discussion in that thread analyzed 7/5, which would be about 98.5%. Some Treasure Chests are 8/5.

Two for me, both on machine #1 on bartops before they were replaced. 2004 & 2006. I loved that game, but can't go back to coin droppers ever again.

My husband got the jackpot chest twice, one year apart. That was just a couple years ago, at MSS both times.
