If you want to stagger (in several cases internally) from casino to casino, then you want to be downtown. Reno ain't Vegas in terms of quality but you'll do OK with Silver Legacy. Peppermill and Atlantis get votes from many but they're off campus and both are just jarring with bad design schemes and crazy layouts; Peppermill does have some nice rooms. For an outlier consider Grand Sierra.

    Nothing is overpriced in Reno.

Great ballpark in town, the car museum is worth a visit and Reno has one of the best small-town art museums we've ever seen. Tahoe and Truckee are just up the hill. Great mountain biking at Northstar and the Ritz-Carlton there is a fave of ours. Good golf all over the region. Eat Basque food.

Best bang for the buck...if you want "downtown" then Silver Legacy.
If you want "off strip" then Atlantis.
LOL @ the VisitReno suggestions...that forum is damn near dead.

I try my best, but I don't get there as often! After my trip this month, I won't be back until 2020.

But the search feature is pretty good, if someone new were to look in the Trip Report section, or search a particular topic, it can be a good resource. The last casino to close was the Siena... and nobody but JD ever went there so only JD misses it!

Siena was a great idea ... but not for Reno. That was a great hotel when if first opened.

Can't help you there. I'm about as conversant in keno as I am Farsi. lol

You're coming a long way, what made you decide on Reno? Just a change of pace from Vegas? If you've not been out this way before, do give yourself some time to get up into the Sierra Nevada. Special special mountains, and Tahoe is a sight, indeed.

Last year my wife and I flew into Vegas rented a car and drove to Parumph got water and ice and drove through Death Valley to Lone Pine Ca. and spent the night. Lone Pine has a nice museum that's western movie themed and you then can drive the Alabama Hills where a lot of the old black and white western movies were shot( Lone Ranger tv series and some John Wayne movies..etc).
Drive about 4 to 5 hours north and arrive at Lake Tahoe or keep going to Carson City...Virginia City ...or Reno..all less than 45 Minutes from Tahoe.
Thought I might give you some options to get to Reno.....Virginia City is a good side trip...
