Thank-you for the info. I did not realize that the type of card you had made no difference on comps- good to know! I think I'll stick with betting lower and playing longer as I enjoy just sitting at the table.

LOL, final thought for the new year on chasing comps ...

How many times have you seen something like this? (Or were the one?) :)

    Click-whirrrrrrr ...
    Click-whirrrrrrr ...
Uh, you ready to go eat?
Yeah, just let me get my next point.
    Click-whirrrrrr (nothing)
    Click-whirrrrrr (nothing)
    Ok, I'm ready.

How many realize that the point cost ya far more than the point is worth! :)

    Ditto.

I gamble (slots) cause I like it and can afford it, but using comps to my advantage is a high priority or I wouldn't be going to Vegas as often. At the very least, comps ( rooms, meals, shows, limo) offset a decent chunk of my overall bankroll. A losing trip - at least the rooms, meals, shows were covered. A winning trip and the comps are icing on the cake. Utilize comps that offer the most benefit to you personally. I sometimes take advantage of 'freebies' at downtown casinos - just a little pre trip research pays off - a little play here and there yields free play or a comp buffet for a nice change of scenery and vibe from my usual strip hangouts.
I never play anywhere without a card - make the comps work for you.
    Best of luck.

If a person can't handle a credit card then gambling is the last thing to be doing with his/her obviously non-discretionary income.

You got a smile and a Thank You from those folks in Orlando? I barely got even that.

Look, no one should chase comps. But if they are coming, it's pound foolish to ignore them. It's pretty standard for the average marketing deal to have very few strings attached if you use it. You don't play to their satisfaction, they just won't give you another free room. As a low roller, when I get a free room offer from one casino over the other, I know casino A values my play more and I give them more business in the future over casino B. That being said, I don't feel any pressure to give all my business to one brand or to gamble past my budget at the expense of having fun doing other things.

Considering my last trip to Atlantic City, where CET gave me a free room, free buffets, free slot play, and free show tickets, and then I left with $1000 in profit, I think I'll keep taking their comps.

Are the free buffets offers sent to you or did you have to ask for them? I've gotten offers for free play, but I'm not going to fly to Vegas for a few bucks of free play.( It had definitive dates of about two weeks.)

Yeah I`ll take the free stuff thanks. Coming to vegas from the UK is expensive, Our first trip cost $2200 for flights, $1100 for the room at Vdara, and we paid for all our own food, and show tickets full price. We are going for our 5th trip in March, and while flights are still expensive, MGM have comped us Aria & Hotel 32 (3 nights at each), given us $XXX dollars resort credit at each, $XXX freeplay at each and BOGOF show tickets. We have a similar bankroll to the OP, and we are slot/VP players. In total we are there for 14 nights, and not paying for a single hotel room (other than the dreaded resort fees). We don`t chase comps, but if its offered why wouldn`t we take them?

Hold on just a minute. Are you telling me there are people who actually leave with more money than they came with? Sign me up for that! :poke:

Chasing comps, to me, is like going to a concert and watching the whole thing on your phone. Yeah, you were there, but did you enjoy the experience? I get my free room, and my cafe meals, and I'm absolutely fine with that. I don't need to shove another $10,000 through to "make the next level". I'm free to come and go as I please.

I have 11 nights comped in three different hotels in Feb-Mar. With the Canadian dollar the way it is, I will be sticking to .25 VP and will probably lose all my free room offers for my next trip. But I could care less. I'll just start from the bottom again lol. I'm only bringing 3K to play with over the 10 days. Hell that's 6K Canadian. This is so unfair :(

At 2pm today, the spot rate was 1.3950. TD has posted a buy US rate of 1.4259. At TD, to buy $3000 US would cost $4277.70. If you are paying $6000 Cdn for $3000 US, i'll do that trade at $5500 for you......ALL day long.
