Palace Station during Big Game

Booked for Feb. S.B. week. What is happening off strip? Does the Hotel have a Big Game party open to the guests? Any help with my 1st Palace stay, post me some help for this middle aged party animal.

 

Have you been to Palace Station before? I was there once and really didn't like it. Very smokey and lacking in pizzazz. Give me Orleans or Gold Coast.

 

going on the cheap, I may hangout some where else. That being said, I do need some help with the area and any info for the hotel. i.e. where to eat, shows etc...

 

I suspect Palace Station is not going to suit the middle aged party animal. A word to the wise.... Watch out for the folks on the scooters heading for the bingo parlor. They WILL run you over.

I don't know if you follow UFC at all or not, but they host a nice viewing party the night before the SB. You do have to pay to get in, but you can take food from the casino in with you. It gets filled to capacity, lots of locals too.

 

Their buffets are very reasonable! Is a pretty big place, thinking of staying there next time out!

 

Have stayed at Palace Station many times and will offer you my view of the place. First the rooms in the tower are very nice and good size. Staff in the entire place and very friendly and do their jobs well for the most part. The cafe serves good food at a good price with many specials. The buffet serves good solid food at a great price with a great staff, yes the food isn't fancy but its not 40 dollars per person either. The steak house is great and surf and turf special is solid at a price where you don't have to take out a small loan in order to pay for it. Pizza and pasta place has great specials and pizza is very good. They also have a food court for something quick or late night snack.
Sports book area is small and seats will fill up quickly for the " big game" so if you are in for a big game party like place it is not there. In the casino the table games all have 5 dollar games everywhere with real 3/2 BJ rules and friendly dealers. If you play VP like I do then you are in for a treat as VP is everywhere. No 6-5 BP or 7-5 DDB like you find on the strip. These are great games with good to great pay tables. The VP bars have progressives for dollars and quarters which can reach quite high. I have seen the quarter one reach over 2k on a couple of trips. They also have VP at the Mexican place and at the Irish bar towards the front area of the casino.
Also as a added bonus they have a free shuttle that will pick you up and take you to the airport and also a strip shuttle that drops you off across the street from Trump Tower. Is the Palace Station Aria or the Wynn no but its not suppose to be. It is what it is a local casino with solid food, good rooms at a fair price, great gambling and a friendly staff. Stay, play and enjoy yourself there and explore the high priced strip on your own as much as you want.

Just remember that while the nightly rate may be cheap they also charge a resort fee that can add up. I know what you mean about "cheap". During the SB room prices are a little high. Bonus gave some good information on the place.

 

#1....Be aware outside.......in the parking lot.
#2.....( Resort fees have totaled more than the room price ! )
#3...Palace Station was my first hotel spot - on my first solo trip = 25 ? yrs ago.
#4...I have always experienced some crazy sh*t at their crap tables ---
from a drunk,sweat drippin' guy losing a fortune , to a small roller winning a fortune --
to a crap dealer who called out "Suspicious Roll !!!!!" after I rolled their very sharp edged dice.
WTF ?

 

If you are looking for more of a party crowd, Palace is right down the street from SLS. I'm sure they will have stuff going on there. A taxi should be $5 or $6 I would guess. Walk would be the same as maybe the Palms or Rio to the strip. Not sure if I would do that walk at night. Otherwise, the property is clean and cheap. I don't like the buffet myself, but I don't care for buffets in general (M Resort being the exception). The gambling is quite fair and what you would expect from a locals hotel. Get a players card and you will get comp rooms on your next stay with fairly low play. This is not my first choice of hotel, but I would not avoid the place.
