Trip Report: Cosmopolitan 12/12/2015 - 12/18/2015

This was my first time staying at the Cosmopolitan, so I appreciate everyone’s insight and knowledge in helping answer my questions prior to going on this trip. Here’s my personal account of what happened.

ARRIVAL:
Wife and I arrive at the Cosmo around 9:30am on a Saturday. Our room was not ready, but they lady gave us our keys and told us that she would send us a text message when the room was ready. We received the text around 11:30am. We were at the UNLV bookstore buying memorabilia but it was nice to know that when we returned, we would have a room. When we got back to the room, the key worked just fine. It worked fine the entire duration of our stay. No problems with the key.

ROOM:
The room they gave us, a City Room (I know, I know) was in the West Tower with a view to the North. We could see the Bellagio fountains as well as the actual Bellagio towers, Paris, Bally’s, Flamingo, and the Linq High Roller and Venetian in the distance. View was great! We were happy! For this being the cheapest type of room, I was pleasantly surprised overall with the view we had.

Room was clean. And I appreciated that. Don't you just hate dirty rooms?

Beds were so very comfortable! Pillows were nice and soft. There were (4) pillows per bed. We slept really well during our stay. Some mornings, we didn’t want to get up because they were so comfortable.

No noisy hallways. We didn't experience anyone running around or causing a commotion. You could just hear the slamming of doors. But this is because the doors are so damn heavy! But this is a great thing. At least you KNOW your door is closed.
On only two occasions we could hear the room next to us. They could only be heard only when they spoke loudly. And that wasn't often. No big deal.

We didn't like the room illumination. It felt dim & dark. I would have liked to see better lighting.

Wanted to have some food in the room but there's a smallish table just enough to only hold cocktails. A bigger table would have been nice. But again, this was no big deal.

Room smelled great and fresh. No traces of smoke or a smoky smell (as it shouldn’t because they’re all non-smoking rooms).

They have CO Bigelow bath products which is higher end. So the wife tells me.

Housekeeping was friendly & room was serviced every day. Fresh towels were given and bed was made every day.

Found that the room had ample plugs to charge our phones and devices, which is a plus for us. I’ve had my share of rooms with little to no plugs.

TV offered great HD channels and the picture was excellent. We never had a problem finding something to watch on TV.

Shower was great. Adequate water pressure and water was hot (for the sinks as well)

Liked the two sinks to get ready. Allowed my wife and I do not get in each other’s way and not having to coordinate bathroom schedules.

ROOM CONS:
There were some stains on the carpet. This was by the sitting area. Understandable as they probably spilled their drinks because the table is too small.

Our room was not vacuumed the entire stay there. We could tell, as there was big pieces of lint from my jacket. It was in the same place everyday. It was a huge piece that's not hard to miss.

The elevator lobby on our floor had a trash can that was overflowing and had not been emptied for at least 3-days during our 6-day stay.

CASINO/HOTEL CONS:
Casino was smoky. This surprised me. I had expected excellent ventilation being a new hotel/casino.

The clientele varies depending on the day/week, etc. Found out that the weekends tend to attract the younger crowd and it’s very busy on Friday until Sunday evening. Weekdays are a different story. More mellow and a lot less “clowns” and commotion.

We did feel a bit out of place, being that we’re almost 40. We didn’t fit well among the 30’s and under crowd. Not really into the party scene.

CASINO/HOTEL PROS:
Wife said Secret Pizza was delicious. Never ate at any other hotel restaurants.

We got to see the ice rink. This was really neat.

Checkout was a breeze via the TV. Checked out at 10:45am and was on our way.

No thefts from the maid or anything.

Bill was accurate. Nothing additional was added to the bill.

Appreciated separate elevator banks. We waited no longer than 1-minute for an elevator to the room. Average was about 10-seconds to get an elevator from the time the button was pushed (no kidding, its fast!) the same with the parking garage elevators.

Appreciate there's two pedestrian bridges. One to Planet Hollywood and the other to Crystals. Got to check out Crystals, Aria, Monte Carlo and Bellagio as they were easily accessible by foot or tram.

Parking was the best. Could always find a stall no matter what time of day or night. Liked the Christmas tree lights that indicate open stalls. Exiting on Harmon is a breeze and better than the north exit which is next to impossible to exit with crowds walking.

Overall, the Cosmopolitan is a very nice hotel. Can’t say much for gaming because we don’t really play. Our trips to Vegas are mostly for sights and shopping as well as the experience of getting off of the island.

That text message for your room being ready was nice. Used to be "check in is not til 4 pm". Then you would either give up or make a pest of yourself by going back to ask every hour. I like Secret Pizza too. When it opened there was this huge mystique about it, but the guys cooking the pies told me that they were just Marriott employees, and if you ordered room service pizza that it would come from there.

Nice report! Even though we don't "fit in" there much either, we really like Cosmo.

Thanks for the info! I think Vegas room get torn up faster than your average room due to the nature of the place and occupancy %.

 

Thanks for the thoughtful report. We are leaning towards Cosmo for our stay during the week in June 2016. I am 39 and hubs is 41, so we hope we like it there. That is really my one reservation, the young party crowd. . . Of course we used to be the young party crowd so maybe it won't feel odd?
