5 star hotel NYE

Hi everyone, long time lurker

Am in desperate need of dates from 30-31 (2 nights). I know it's nearly impossible to get 5/4 star suites especially for the 31st unless you empty your wallet, but any help appreciated. One of my relatives is really sick and I want to have him enjoy NYE with a celebration and with a bang, so not sure how long he has.

 

Honestly, Vegas in general, but especially Nye is far more about experiencing the event and less about the room. Imho there is no bad suite I'm the strip, granted, I haven't seen them all. But if you really want a suite grab one you can find. But if money is an issue get one gotten downtown or of strip. Everything may be booked now, I don't know, best option may be to just call some properties and ask. If you've been to Vegas before call places you've been and ask for a host.

 

Thank you for that. I've been to vegas many times just not in the recent years. I have booked a cheaper hotel (Linq) just in case, but wanted to get something better. I've dug around online and couldn't find anything. Most of the 5star suites are booked already.

 

Venetian is still showing a Rialto Suite available for $589/nt. You'd have to call and make sure you can secure the double beds.

Palazzo is showing a double queen bed room for $489/nt.

Not sure is this fits the empty your wallet definition or not. Good luck!

 

Are there any tricks to getting deeper discounts? I guess I can call and ask for the hostess. I've stayed at both of those.

I was trying to stay at the Cosmo but all suites are booked.

 

NYE is one of the most difficult weekends of the year to find suites.
The Casinos hold them for their top players who are invited to the big parties.

Last year a friend wanted me to find a suite two weeks before NYE.
My host could not help and the hotel website had nothing.
I was shocked to find one for them on Orbitz which I would not usually check.

VDara may be a good option as there are still "reasonable" rates for suites.
Great location also sandwiched between Aria,Cosmo,and Bellagio.

V/P seems to have a system whereas their standard 'hosts' or 'relation managers' have no discretionary comps. What you get is what the computer spits out. I assume they have hosts that take care of the high rollers but I'll never get one of those lol

 

Just an FYI on V/P suites. Very few are real suites. Almost all rooms are oversized rooms and do NOT have doors between sitting area and beds.

How important is hotel and/or location vs room type? Why a suite?

How mobile is your friend? NYE in Vegas is great, but not for those with mobility issues.

 

He's mobile, has PTSD from being a Marine, very young. But when he's with me, he seems fine, so that's one of the reason I wanted him to be with me. We're not really the drinking type anymore.

 

Apologies for the double replies...4star would be ok too. I really love The Mirage, but it seems that it's around the same price as something like Palazzo.

 

Vdara has king rooms with a pull out sofa bed @ $369 plus tax and resort fee. From the lobby it's about a 5 minute walk to the Bellagio conservatory. Kudos to you for thinking of your friend at this time.

 

I am thinking just going to Vegas at NYE would be great. Suite or no suite.

Just be aware everything is busy and packed.

 

You know you're friend better than I, but in your first post you say he's "really sick" and that you don't know how much time he has left, and then you say he has PTSD. I have friends who have PTSD and NYE on the strip is NOT a place they would probably want to be.

Like I said, not questioning, but Vegas at NYE is one of those times there is no way to avoid the crowds and noise and loads and loads of people. While NYE in Vegas sounds great, I might reconsider if I were you. If you want to do something nice for him wait a few weeks and you can get a suite at a much better price when vegas is not quite as jam packed.

There are just a lot of triggers around NYE that could trigger either PTSD or a major illness. Just food for thought, good luck whatever you decide.

 

Yes, I, too, have been led to believe that fireworks are contraindicated for people with PTSD.

 

My nephew, who did 4 tours of duty in Iraq, can't stand 4th of July now because of the fireworks. It's a serious thing.

Hopefully that's one of the worst effects he has endured. I can't stand fireworks either, and I just have hearing sensitivity with sudden noises. Survived "Star Wars" decently today though!

By the way, my relative battled with PTSD and was very suicidal, so I am trying to help him get out of it because medicine (they gave him so much over the years) did not help and neither did theraphy. I know Vegas is not the best place to do it, especially on NY, but he always loved it so I assumed this would be kind of a getaway deal for him too. I don't even like Vegas that much.
