Weight loss contest anyone?

Some interest was showed when I mentioned a potential contest for this forum similar to another I was running on another. After the Holidays most of need a reset! I don't know what kind of prize we could offer on this forum except bragging rights- and better health- but does anyone want to get a good start on 2016 by dropping some lbs in this contest?

Start date: Jan 1
End date: march 7

Picture of scale with catchphrase that I will PM at start and finish. Weekly weigh-ins don't need a pic. We will be using percentages so that smaller people have a fighting chance. A 200 lb person losing 30 lbs has done better than a 300lb person losing the same amount.

If there is enough interest, could be in groups or something. Was thinking if there are 10 people, everyone put in $10 winner gets the pot.

Good luck to all!! I've upped my activity level and the plan is to keep ratcheting that upward. As in running, LSD is the key. Incremental, patient, but continued progress.

 

I'm not sure about entering a contest, but as a noob here who's going to Vegas in May, I'm in for encouraging each other to get fit to sit out by the pool.

 

Id do it for higher stakes.. 100 or 200.. That would be motivating. I could go for losing 5 to 10%. How about you broncofn, stevie, pphold, nate, leslie chow to name a few? Lol. No, you guys are already too skinny. Well, some of you are.

 

I'm in don't know if I can lose any weight? I'm always eating. But willing to try.

 

I would love to be in, but don't think I am ready to share my weight numbers so publicly. Will you be posting our actual weight or just the lose numbers?

The week I spend in vegas in February will have to be my "cheat week" as I am not going to be counting calories there

 

I'm afraid you would need to post your weight. I know it can be embarrassing, but remember that all those entering this contest are not pleased with their weight or they wouldn't be entering. Hey- I bet you don't weigh more than my 330 lbs!

 

Let me check my schedule. One week in Phoenix with my Uncle in January, no problem, will drink rye and water instead of beer. One week in Vegas in February, errr, guess I'll have to hit the gym there. Contest ends before St. Patty's, no problem, can still drink a gallon of Guinness.

Ok, I'm in, whether it be for bragging rights, some token sum, or a Packer size hundy or two. I suck at these, but once bet a buddy he'd give up smoking for a year, with a trip to Vegas as the prize, and he made it, so maybe I'll find some inner fortitude.

Oh, and yes, I weigh more than 330 lb, Should have taken that bet!

I started on June 28th at 259lbs. Today I'm at 199lbs. That's in Canadian pounds (35% less than American pounds).

I planning to be at 159lbs for my Vegas May trip at ARIA.

 

Count me in, this adds fuel to my fire as I already have a deal with my fellow coach and owner at the gym that if I can make 185 by May I will get one last pro fight before I hit 51.

I need to lose the 6 pounds (5.5%) that crept up on me during November when I was taking care of my terminally ill Shih Tzu. On November 30 Ginger made her way over Rainbow Bridge. So now I'm resuming all of my healthy habits!

 

OK- Sonya indicated that we could have a monetary prize as long as we indicate that this is not sponsored in any way by VMB- just a bunch of members trying to get healthy. That is they key, so I don't think we should need a large amount of cash in the kitty, but what about a $25 entry fee- winner take all? If we get ten people the winner would get enough for a room for a few nights in Sin City. I'll wait a few days and start posting a list of names of the contestants. Eat up for the Holidays- it'll be wagon time starting the 1st!
