When playing craps or roulette, does the table minimum apply to all the bets one has on the table or does each individual bet have to be the table minimum (e.g., $5 bets on five numbers at a $25 roulette table)? Thanks for replies.

Roulette: all your inside bets have to add up to the table min.; outside bets have to be the table min.

For Roulette the table minimum is usually for all bets combined on the inside numbers, and for each bet on the outside bets. So at a $10 Roulette table you could bet $2 on 5 numbers, or $1 on 10 numbers, etc, but if you bet on an outside bet like Black you have to bet at least $10, regardless of your other inside or outside bets.

For Craps, the table minimum applies to all the bets that aren't in the middle, so like Pass/Don't Pass, Come/Don't Come, and Field bets. The place and buy bets may actually be a bit higher than the table minimum, for instance on a $15 table the least you can Place the 6 or 8 is usually $18.

The hardways and other bets in the middle are usually lower than the table minimum, usually $1, though some, like the horn require higher amounts because they're actually combined bets.

Actually, on a $5 craps table you can bet $5 on the 6 or 8. You have to bet AT LEAST $5 on a single number, but the way the odds work, a $5 bet on 6 or 8 will pay you $5 if you hit. However if you place $6 on the 6 or 8, you win $7. So it is within the rules to bet only $5 on those numbers, but you should bet in multiples of 6. The 5 and 9 will pay you $7 on a $5 bet if they hit, and the 4 and 10 will pay you $9 on the $5 bet. All of the hard way bets, hop bets, etc, basically all the betting pods right in front of the stick man can be bet on for as little as $1.

If you're unsure, the craps table is usually a very friendly place. All the "dealers" will be more than happy to answer any question about betting, and most players will teach you the basics as well.
