Hi I am curious to know what are some of the options of not bringing cash . Say maybe $3,000.
I know travelers checks work. How about money orders made out to the casino I am staying at?

no, cashier's checks or MOs have to be cleared beforehand by a host since they can easily be counterfeited.

honestly, it's 30 bills. just put it in your pocket and forget about it.

the other option is use the ATM for $1k at a time at a fee of about $7.

so it will cost you about $21 to get your $3k.

Going that route one just needs to be sure that their bank account is setup to allow the desired amount of atm activity per day. Years ago mine was capped at $1,000. I took out $500 and later went for the other $500 but was denied as the fees on the transaction put me over that daily limit.

Some casinos will cash personal checks for free.

I think you might be surprised how many people in normal life walk around with $1k. Walking with $3k in Vegas is not that uncommon. Bet you can find many folks that have $3k or even $10k in their rooms.

And, as said, paying $5-$7 to take out $1,000 is really easy.

All that other stuff is just a pain in the ass.

I always take out markers when I'm in vegas. I usually visit my regular casinos so just take out markers there. I don't have to worry about carrying around extra money, take only what I need for the day and it is basically on the casinos dime (until I get home and get the bill asking to pay off my markers).

I do take along some travelers checks but only to cover in the event that there are problems with my marker/line of credit.

Other people take out accounts from national banks that are located in vegas, that way they just go to an atm to get their money. some people wire money to their home hotel. So many options.

I just got a small LOC at the two casinos I stay and play at the most and then I bring $1k with me for when I wander the strip or go downtown and want to play a bit at another casino.

But, yeah carrying $3k isn't that crazy as long as you don't flash it around and make sure it's somewhere secure on your person.

Definitely check about daily limits if you go the ATM route. I think my bank caps it at $1,500 per day that I can take out.

Not sure if you're staying downtown, but if you take cash out at the El Cortez I believe they still reimburse the ATM fee with freeplay of the same amount if you take your receipt to the slot club desk. I think there's a daily limit, but I forget how much.

I almost always get cash from the ATM (WF - I can use without charge) at the airport or the rental car center. There used to be a WF ATM at Carnaval Court but I think it may have been lost in the shuffle. The ATMS in the casinos are a RIP! :(
