I say this with the utmost of respect for anyone that works an internet board, be it a blog, consolidator website, message board, whatever. It can be thankless work.

But I am a big-time volunteer in the local non-profit bowling associations, and believe me when I say that sometimes NO volunteers are better than unqualified-but-well-meaning volunteers! :peace:

Good News! I heard Mooj has left Smart Tech to volunteer handler the complaint department at Vegas Bright.

Once again, we welcome another former VegasChatter to our site (and we’re STILL not done). PaperPoster, a former contributor/tipster at VegasChatter, now has a ‘permanent residency’ here at VegasBright. Although Pape (we like to call him Pape) wasn’t a writer on VC, he did provide the breaking scoop (with pictures to boot) on the interior changes of our favorite casinos and served as a contributing source for many of the articles on VC.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the warm, (and not so warm) wishes on Vegas Bright. I knew we would be successful as soon as we had our first hater ;) Seriously, we hope to help fill the void left by Conde Nast's quick closure of Vegas Chatter. Each day Sam and I are in contact with new prospective writers and contributors. I'm also working behind the scenes on the tech side of the site, plus the Facebook page and twitter feed. We are just beginning, but it is my hope that things will be moving at full speed soon. UTE, thank you for your remarks about the spelling and grammar. I am paying careful attention to it now.

We've got three former VC contributors, one of their writers, plus another VC contributor on the way. We also have three new writers joining us this week, one of them is a former editor of PC World *spoiler alert* and an absolute Vegas junkie. With that, we are still working to get more VC folks aboard as well. They have expressed interest, and it will happen, but right now it is a timing thing for them. One more thing I'd like to close with: there are two sides to the coin; sometimes the well-meaning and non-experienced folks are better than none at all. Bugsy Siegel had an idea and ran with it. Sure he got his eyes shot out but aren't luxury hotels on the strip a nice thing to have? That said, we hope you enjoy your time at Vegas Bright :)

Can I request that someone takes a look at the RSS feed for VB, as it seems to be picking up the 'Best of the Web' items too, so is filling the feed with articles from Eater, VegasSolo etc.

Yes, I noticed that too. I'm looking to replace it in a way so that it doesn't pull in feeds as posts; the problem is it looks less "pretty'. It's one of the issues I plan on working on today.

i can tell you this hes working on stories just like vc did as ive sent him some, im just notsure if becuase he a start up hes over whelmed on how long it will take to get the ball rolling and once it does the stories will be updated daily like vc.
im sure theres a learning curve that i havent a clue abut as i can send 5 differnt things a day but then some one has to format and write them up and imagine have 10 mes doing that and only being open for a week.

    so give it time.

i held of on posting some stuff hear to give first scoop.

RSS issue fixed, starting tomorrow our RSS feed will not have posts from other sources. It was a bug in the RSS importer I was using, switched to a new one. If you still see them, it's the last ones that came in today. Going forward the RSS will update only with Vegas Bright posts. :)

    Yep.

And let's get in a vote for overuse and abuse of "the."

Found it. Bookmarked it, and love it. It helps fill my morning VC void.

To the contributors...please continue what you do. The majority of us really appreciate your work. Please don't let "grammar talk" discourage you!

I don't think anyone was discouraging content. Hell, I have thousands of articles in print and trust me typos happen. It just seems logical for putative Vegas addicts to know that Caesars doesn't have an apostrophe and never has. I was just speaking to communication in general. It's not hard to be vibrant, even using the vernacular or being edgy, but still get the building blocks in the correct spots.
