MLife Platinum vs Identity for Slot Gaming

I'm trying to determine if I'm better off playing slots at Cosmopolitan or MGM hotels location aside.

I have platinum status at MLife so I believe I earn 130% of $.02 per $3 slot play. I'm combining express comps and free play together for simplicity.

So $.026 per $3 wagered with MLife.

Identity Platinum has 3x multipliers on $.01 per $2.50 wagered.

So... $.036 per $3 wagered with Identity.

Does this math look roughly correct? Appreciate any thoughts.

Cosmopolitan removing table play from Identity comps suck, but seems like their slot program is better at this point.

 

I don't think anything is wrong with your math, but in terms of things like direct express comps/point play/indentity play, there isn't a huge difference here. If you play at cosmo, you get an extra third of a percent of total coin-in back in terms of direct comps. That's an extra $3.33 back per thousand dollars wagered assuming all things the same, meh. Cosmo could easily be a percent tighter than MLife, and you would really have no idea since Nevada sucks on slot return data. There can be many factors that would sway your play to either location. If you do occasionally play tables then at least at MLife, you would get express comps for that. Unfortunately, I feel like many factors that are less tangible are more important in making your choice.

Which place seems to give you the best overall comp value for you?
Which place do you simply like playing at more?

Also another thing to think about MGM vs. Cosmo, if you like playing new penny slots, MGM can suck because of the whole "specialty slot" BS.

I'm interested to hear what other people think, because I'm just talking hypothetically. Neither place really give me anything for my play.

 

I enjoy playing at both casinos and find the rooms to both be solid. However my Aria host (C.C.) is a total ghost. My Cosmopolitan host was fantastic but he was just let go and my new host hasn't been great so far.

In terms of sheer comps Cosmopolitan has won out big the last couple years so I'll probably continue staying there as long as the new host steps up.

I agree with you Vegas slot info is lacking. Disappointing they don't break down holds by casino holding company at least.

 

Upside to MGM is having options in terms of different casinos plus a handful of local casinos in case you live near one. And it's a lot easier to know exactly where you stand in terms of tier points. WIth Identity the points you see online are the points available for comps, not tier points or even points eligible for Identity play. When I put my card in a machine I see a different number than what I see I online and it's different from the number they give me at the Identity desk when I ask about tier status. The whole 365 day moving window for determining if you get promoted a tier versus an anniversary date for renewal of a tier.

All that being said, I prefer Cosmo. They don't differentiate between specialty and normal slots. VP earns more slowly at $6.50 per point.

 

A big perk of MLife is choice.

The obvious is the hotels they have but the casinos are also important for game selection: if there is a particular game you want to play and its not at Cosmopolitan you have to go outside their program... with MLife you can just go to another casino. Also because Cosmo's casino floor space is limited you are going to see a limited selection of slots - might be mostly the newest ones or what still the big hot one right now... with MLife through all their casinos you will be able to find a much wider variety of games including some old ones or games at different bet levels.

I'd also say where you can spend your points is also there, wider selection of places between the MLife properties, but then that depends if Cosmopolitan has all that you need in dining and such.

 

What is the difference between specialty slots and normal slots?

 

They are typically the newer slots. I was over at Mirage last week and the speciality slots had a little silver sign on them that said "$10 wager for 1 point", or something to that effect. Those are machines that I didn't play.

 

I have made Cosmo my main property. I find the comps to be much better than MGM. I have a great host, am able to contact her and I find the freeplay to be excellent. I gave up on MGM after being a Noir player with them for three years. For me, they sucked.
