More like behind the Paris. It's on Koval about 1/2 block south of Flamingo. Look for the Super 8 sign.

I've lived in Las Vegas for about 10 years and I can't tell you how many times I've eaten at Ellis Island. It's a great place to eat, be it at the restaurant, BBQ, or Metro Pizza. They're all great deals and have terrific food. I'm particularly fond of their burgers, their chicken Parmesan, and their steak special. Breakfasts are good also.

Metro Pizza has 2for1 days on Thursdays, where either whole pizzas or pizza by the slice are 2for1 (no coupon required). Sundays are 2for1 on whole pizzas only.

    Good values. Great breakfast.
I love their old advertising on the craps layout for the T-Bone...that was rich!
Never felt threatened walking. You just have to be street smart.
But these days, better to be safe and walk with others.

Go on google maps and "walk" the route. You'll see what we're talking about.

You go down to Bally's sportsbook which is on the pool level. There's an exit by the Johnny Rocket's. You go to the right when you get out that exit. From there you follow the sidewalk along Flamingo. You get to the corner of Koval and Flamingo and cross the street. You turn right again once you've crossed the street. There's 2 businesses on that side of the street. The 3rd one is the Ellis Island.

Keep in mind, the hotel portion of the Ellis Island is a Super 8. The Super 8 signage might be throwing you off. It's also not a huge place.

My husband and I freaking love it there. But, it's not for everybody. You have to love low roller places to enjoy it. It's worth a try though. If you want to make a little tour out of it, you can also swing by the Westin.

I never felt unsafe walking from the strip or Bally's over to Ellis Island. I would walk it alone during the day without issue. I've walked it with a friend, so 2 chicks walking over there. Otherwise I've walked it with my husband who is a small for a big dude. I've also driven there.

Try google maps and if you still can't visualize it, I'll help you find it.

I checked out EI last week for the Monday Night Football game. Really liked the place. $2 pints before the game $1pints during. They had good food specials and prize giveaways. The only drawback is the bar is small and gets quite crowded. A lot of locals go for the game and specials. Had the steak for $9.79 with the player's card. It was quite good. I will definitely return and try the bbq and pizza next month. My friends and I walked back to NY NY after the game. It wasn't that bad it was kind of cool walking off the strip and seeing the casinos lit up at night.

Both sides of the road have now been landscaped. Very attractive walk there now. No more broken bottles, litter and bums. Was quite impressed. They've done a good job.

There is a 2nd bar in the karaoke lounge where you can also dine if the cafe is full.

The bar in the karaoke lounge. I'm smacking myself in the head right now. Why did I never think of grabbing a drink there when the main bar is busy?

I agree--it makes a world of difference. I'm not sure whom I should mentally thank for this change. The city? Caesars (because they presumably own the lots behind Bally's)? The fence around the large semi-forlorn parking lot was upgraded from ratty chain-link to something black and more permanent-looking.

At any rate, that little change is much appreciated by the EI fans who stay on the strip.

We walked to EI from Bally's on Tuesday. Fun as always, and FOAK at bar paid for BBQ. Three down, four nights to go.

My big concern on that walk was that big drop between the sidewalk and fence on the Bally's side. If you're an accident prone klutz sober... I never did hurt myself there but I can imagine a lot of wrecked ankles and knees.

Hey everyone, just an idea for all of you that I got from some people I was with last time I went to Ellis Island

The portions are huge and I know it's super hard to eat all of the food they give you. If you do have any leftovers, ask for a doggy bag and give it to a homeless person on your walk back to the strip. My group definitely made a few guys nights last time. I'll be doing this again for sure on my trip in March. There are a ton of homeless people between Ellis Island and the strip and it's not hard to find one or two. An easy way to help out and to get some good karma in the process!!

Great idea and surprised I hadn't thought of it! We never pay for drinks and have so many, bonus drink tips, I've thought if giving those. But, the guys on the corners I see- ain't getting in.

On EI, my posse and I spend every night there from 9 to midnight or so. Never had a problem walking from Bally's, never had a bad meal and always enjoyed ourselves. We go there to play 3/2 BJ and we're pretty good, so they pull all the tricks, rat-tat-tat through the Dealers, Money change, etc. But we tip, of course, so the dealers are on our side and have a great time. EI also gives out goofy things like Spin the Wheel for up to $500, when you draw a 3rd 7 for 21 or a Growler of Beer for a suited BJ!

    Love the place.

I always hit Ellis Island on my trips. Excellent food and low denomination games. Their homemade beers are also excellent.

Took cab from Bally's $4.50. Had a few 20 oz beers at $2 dollars a piece, Ate the BBQ half ribs half chicken came with coleslaw, baked beans, 2 corn on the cob and bread. My first time will be back for more, Walked back to Bally's which was nice after eating. Had so much food we had a box of food to take back to the room. Here is a tip, If you want the BBQ get your name on the list early so you wont have to wait. They had wait times of up to an hour on Saturday night. I love that place and plan to stop by every time from now on.

Ellis Island is the best deal within easy walking distance of the busiest intersection in Las Vegas (Flamingo and Las Vegas Blvd). If you're at Bally's and walk out the back it's about five minutes. My wife and I have walked it day and night (though no later than maybe 10:30 pm) and never had an issue. If you have a physical limitation or are intimidated by questionable looking types you may not want to walk, but we've never actually been approached by anyone.

The food is cheap and good, and the atmosphere is local/quirky. We've shared pizzas with strangers and enjoyed the karaoke at night. The karaoke is well-attended with a waiting list to sing. Some people are great while others are awful. When someone is really bad, we've seen regulars, unprompted, get up and join them to help them out. I complimented a guy once after a particularly good performance. He thanked me and said he'd had a lot of time to practice since he'd just gotten out from doing three years for manslaughter. Other than that comment, he seemed like a nice guy. That's the kind of place it is.

Ellis Island made the trip for my dad and me. He is in his 70s, so walking was out, but had a rental and told him about this place. First time we ate there, he ordered the ham steak and eggs $6.99 and the ham covered the plate! He took 3/4 of it and his toast and made sandwiches all day (we had to drive 240 miles one way to a memorial service). That night, back for the steak special, good steak, great beer. Next morning, he wants to go back for the $5.99 steak and eggs breakfast. Last morning in LV back again and he orders the 20 oz pork chop and I got the fish and chips. The fish and chips for $8.99 were tasty, and you must have gotten about 1 to 1 1/2 pounds of fish. The only meal we didn't eat there was when I took him to Bellagio buffet. He loved the small casino, locals vibe and the incredibly reasonable prices.

Just got back from Vegas. Had Ellis Island for dinner one night. I would suggest to anyone to forget the 7.99 steak special and get the 13.99 king cut prime rib. I have spent 150$ for the same exact meal here in Houston and Ellis islands was better. To me its the best bargain in Vegas.
