Great review, glad to have the Spike back as a downtown option, and a funky one at that.

Is it, in your opinion, nicer than the ElCo Cabana Suites?

I'd put them in the same category, with pros and cons to each. For instance, no pool at Cabanas but nicer fitness facility. Easier to check in at Oasis without walking through a smoke-filled casino across the street first.

The place looks great! A wonderful option for people who like to stay in a small hotel. I actually didn't know it was coming back as a hotel. I was under the impression it was going to be converted into appartments for Zappo's employees. Don't know how I came up with that idea but I believe I read it somewhere a while ago. Anyhow, great renovation!

FYI: I just noticed that the Oasis at Gold Spike is available on groupon for $22 a night (+$20 resort fee). We stopped by in December and the property was quite nicely done. Enjoyed playing giant chess outside haha..

Thanks for the review, we are staying at Aria, but wanted a night downtown so I booked a Thursday night stay in one of their ultimate rooms...your review helped in the decision.
