Well the decision wasn't all of the sudden. I started tracking my win-loss ratio about two years ago. Been doing factory work for 12 years now . Beyond ready for a major lifestyle change. So thinking about it more and more this profession just seems to be the way.

    Thanks klawrey
Im pretty sure I want to be more aggressive than you., going at it as a real profession. That is good warning about the juice though. I am definitely going to figure that in to the equation.
I have been thinking about getting a part time job while im there though. Kind of think it might help keep me out of trouble since the betting doesn't really take out a lot of time from my day. I guess ill know better once I know how far all the books ill be using are from each other and how much of my day is spent on that.

For reference the $110 is just my unit in the scale. I base my plays on confidence, betting more units on bets I feel better about in hopes of avoiding the dreaded 1-1 night and still losing money. I bet anywhere from $110 to $1100 a game, or 1 to 10 units.

Currently have $440 on Charlotte-Washington Over 187.5 and $330 on Virginia -1.5 at UNC.

I wish you the best of luck!

Please keep us posted and I'm always in for a good chat about lines and takes on different games!

For every Billy Walters though there are probably hundreds if not thousands for guys who blew through a lot of $$$ and don't have much left for their name. Much like saying Warren Buffet took is capital investments and stock and built an empire but how many have tried to be Warren Buffet and now are broke?

It can be done but it is EXTREMELY few and far between.

Hey some pretty obvious questions just came to mind.
What kinds of payments will sportsbooks take? Cash only, debit cards, credit cards?
I could really drive up my cash back bonus if they take discover card!

Also when you go to make your bets do they require id or do you just get a receipt you bring back to collect winnings? ?
    Thanks all

Best way to make money sports betting is to open a tout shop like Stevens. There's a sucker born every minute, why should the casinos have all the fun?

All I can say is don't bet more than $5 on any game until you've been in town hanging around the book for 3 months.

You're either a) the most incredibly naive person ever, b) a complete troll, or c) the dumbest person since Forest Gump.

In any case you're going to lose that 100k so fast your head will spin unless you slow down and learn what you're doing first.

There are 5 ways to get ahead in this business.

    1. Tout shop, which was mentioned before. You put yourself out there as an expert and charge $x,xxx for "professional advice" to sell your book/e-book/subscription website/in-person betting seminars.

    2. Own the sportsbook. Requires owning a tourist-based casino on Las Vegas Boulevard, or international name brand recognition like William Hill.

    3. Scamming people. Nolan Dalla has a pretty good blog post about his experience.

    4. Offer sportsbook services to people banned from casinos and skim a very real non-zero percentage of every bet. Requires the ability to shake them down for funds if they don't pay.

    5. Be a sharp who is so far ahead of everyone that he beats the vig.

Of those, being a sharp is probably the hardest. Its also tough to separate the true sharps from the tout shops.

"May the odds be in your favor"

Yeah I don't buy this one bit - and I am not normally very jaded...but this simply cannot be real. Betting with a credit card?!
