I recently gave up Beer because of heartburn so I have moved to trying hard liquor but haven't decided on what drink to make mine yet.

I was playing quarter VP at the bar, asked for single malt scotch, they said only if I was willing to pay for it. Gave me blended instead, was a good brand just don't recall which one.

My brother went through phases of not being able to tolerate one type of alcohol and then another. He got worse over time and finally had to give it up altogether. You might want to discuss this "heartburn" with your doctor, because you may be developing an allergic reaction to alcohol in all forms. I enjoy beer, wine, and hard booze in moderation and have no axe to grind about drinking. But you may be like my brother.

I am fine with Absolute, my favorite drink so far has been a greyhound, funny that drinking Grapefruit juice has gotten rid of my Heartburn, but I had read that Heartburn and Acid reflux many times are because of too little Acid and not too much Acid.

I am staying at 4 Queens right now. Some people to my left last night were ordering GreyHounds. Maybe it was you at Kings Bar?

Yeah if I drink carbonated stuff, beer or even a coke, late in the evening on a full stomach, the acid reflux really gets me. So hard liqueur is the only way to go now for me, later in the evening.

I manage to get Maker's comped at the bar, is that considered to be top shelf? Probably not. But I like it.

Maker's Mark is definitely a top end Bourbon. But then Bourbon is generally considered a low end Whiskey. BIG difference between Makers and Scotch prices.

Well yes there is a price difference esp at the single malted level but I am unsure of low end Whiskey is the proper term...

Funny story, but Laughlin rather than Las Vegas...at the Colorado Belle if you ordered a beer, it all came from the same tap...(one tap)...Bud Light? No problem. Michelob? You bet. I think there was a self-serve bar station for the cocktail waitresses -- they didn't have to remember what beer you ordered when pouring it, only when delivering it...

You got four glasses of it in Vegas or four bottles for your house?
I can never find Pappy's in LV.

Technically it can only be labeled Bourbon if its made in Kentucky. Hence Jack's Tennessee sour mash. Its also supposed to be not less than 51% corn. It used to be made exclusively in Bourbon County.
