Hello everyone! Just trying to figure out what to use my lp's for and was seeing what everyone ended up winning with their free play rewards? I'm planning on staying at MGM. Thanks so much!
Free play functions (outside of minor nuances) the same as cash in a slot or video poker machine. The success or failure of freeplay isn't solid indicator of value. I would say that the $25 and $50 freeplay rewards (the $10 just doesn't measure up to the majority of the food credit rewards) are a wise use of a reward if you have comped rooms. If not, you are better off using the bonus reward nights combined with freeplay or food credit for maximum value. Remember that the name of the MyVegas game is to maximize value on your 3 or 4 rewards (depending on your account) in a rolling 30 day period. My room is comped, so I'm using the $50 and $25 freeplay ($75 total) at Mirage along with $30 food credit at Heritage Steak and the beer tasting at the Monte Carlo Brewpub. If my room wasn't comped, I would adjust my choices to (3) bonus reward nights at Mirage and $50 freeplay, for maximum value. Nick
Nick: So I have a Saturday night booked at Mirage ($49 mlife rate) and was wondering what you would think would be best to do. I am checking into Cosmo on Sunday I was thinking of using a bonus reward night for Sunday at Mirage so we can sleep in after Saturday night craziness, and in doing so I can then use the $25 Freeplay as well. Then for the 3rd award I was thinking of doing the $75 Tender Credit at Luxor. I cannot use most of the dinner buffets because they can only be used Mon to Thursday. We arrive at 9:45 Thursday and leave at 7:00 pm Monday. I want to save any of the Cirque awards for when my wife and I go. I was thinking of doing Fantasy but it seems that I can get those tickets at Tix for tonight for same price if we needed to buy one anyway. I have 120k pts now and by Jan 8th should have close to 250k, maybe more or less. What do you think?
Your plan sounds solid, but burning 52,500 points for the bonus night is essentially only gaining you $15 in Freeplay but costing you one of your 3 rewards. I would recommend the $30 at Tom Colliccio's Heritage Steak. Great place and getting $30 off is good for a martini and appetizer! Nick
So skip free play and just try for 3 food deals. I believe I can get breakfast at most places without the mon to thurs restrictions... So maybe the Luxor Steak, a Breakfast buffet and Heritage steak?
FYI... The $30 credit to Heritage Steak is off of a $75 purchase, so you can get a real meal with it.
I used this one in February, I wasn't impressed with it. We ate at the Wynn buffet the following night and it was far less out of pocket for 2 people and much better food. If you hit the total bill right at $150 you'll be at $180 with tip, minus the $75 reward, still a $105 meal.
Thanks it will be two of us splitting it up so it will not be all that bad, but if the food is not great then I will reconsider.
It seems like you want to eat well during your visit. That's the way to do Vegas!!!! Tender is our "go to" steakhouse in Vegas. We have been there numerous times and never had a bad meal or dish. Their menu is the most expansive (in terms of variety), of all the MGM steakhouses. The prices are more than reasonable (cheap), relative to any high end steakhouse. You won't go wrong with choosing the discount.
Thanks. I figured my buddy and I could share in the discount. We do Restaurant.com at the majestic star casino locally every Wed before thanksgiving. Same type of deal 75 off 150. The gift card usually costs 15 or so. With a few drinks, app, side and steak we are out the door with tip at like $60 a person, which all in all is not bad. That being said I did not want to use an award for someplace that was expensive and not good!
I thought it was $30 off of $60.... The direction that MyVegas is going, it'll soon be $30 off of $1000. Nick
we have also eaten at Tender a few times now. Our meals have been fabulous and large portions, in fact, after the first time, we learned to share our sides because it's too much food! My steak has always been cooked to perfection and I'm kind of picky. We used the myVEGAS rewards back when it was $150 reward and had no trouble spending that much with cocktails and dessert. A few weeks ago we used the spend $75 and get $75 credit reward and we came very close to the $150.... just paid tip out of pocket. We both had excellent meals again and would go back in a heart beat. I think this reward is still quite a good value (of course the $150 was much better.. LOL), but we were very pleased with it. My only complaint was while waiting out in the bar for quite a while (and we had a reservation), no one came by to take our order and the table we were sitting out.. (right by the front desk) on couches -- kind of a community area, had an absolutely filthy table top and no one came to clean it either, even after I commented on it. Needless to say, I was not impressed with the bar... but dinner was wonderful. I also recommend the sampler for desserts... small portions but really just the right amount of 3-4 desserts to try a few bites of ... since that's all you really need anyhow! !
