Do you ever feel like a certain hotel but a comp is calling your name?

A comp is calling my name, but like most times, I think I am going to go with the room I feel like instead..and just pay the price. What do you choose in these scenarios?

It's vacation, we stay where we want to stay, and want does include consideration of value, which also includes cost.

If it two evenly matched casinos, I choose the best "deal" or where I feel "luckiest"

    If it were Wynn/Encore and Venetian/Palazzo, I'd pick V/P.

If it were between the D and the Mirage, it would really depend on where the best comp deal is, and typically, it's the D.

OTOH, paying for a room gives you the "ultimate freedom" of gambling anywhere you want, or not at all.

I'm debating that right now. I have my December stay comped at Luxor, but I received one of those generic $79/night promos from Aria.

It's a tough decision, but not as tough as it would seem. Most people would instantly do the Aria promo rate. I like cheap and the Luxor is actually one of my favorite places on the strip.

I'll probably end up at Luxor come December.

Many years ago we would stay at Luxor because we were comp'd. But we always wanted to stay at Wynn. So after playing at Wynn a few times we started
to receive discounted mail offers and so we took advantage of them. Now we are comp'd at Wynn. We stayed at Luxor 5X but now have stayed at Wynn 6X.

I used to take the free rooms but now I always stay where I want.
I usually get comped but have walked away from better offers to stay where I want.

The other thing to consider is:

If you are an mLifer after points, it's 25x points for every dollar spent at mLife for lodging. So, if the rooms aren't that expensive, it might behoove you to pay for the room and take the points. You are then under no obligation to play, but if your play warrants a comp, you save on the room.

    From the mLife site:

"You earn Tier Credits for virtually every dollar you spend - including gaming - across all our M life resorts. For every dollar you spend on your hotel stay, dining, entertainment, or spa you earn Tier Credits - in Las Vegas you earn 25 Tier Credits per dollar spent; at Beau Rivage, Gold Strike Tunica, and MGM Grand Detroit you earn 8 Tier Credits per dollar spend."

I've been sorely tempted this year. Next week we'll stay at Orleans (comp) and March at Bally's (1st time comp) unless Orleans gives us MORE ;). I ALWAYS win at the Orleans so I'll keep going back for more! We'll stay at Bally's in March but play at Orleans as well.

I usually pay the room rate at the hotel I want to stay at if comps aren't available. Usually, my play can lead to a back-end comp on the room rate and F&B comp. It only becomes an issue when I book the reservation through my personal TA or AMEX.

Earning tier credits this way has little to no effect on your comps and doesn't really benfit you either.
