What is something unusual or unexpected that you consider a “must have” that you pack for every trip to Vegas?

I have a lucky short that I always wear on my first day there. But, after I received some excellent advise from @EastCoastVegasFan! I am adding my Skyzone socks to the list.

I have one that never leaves my suitcase, more from my traveling work days though because my Vegas home Cosmo has one in the room.

A mini screwdriver for the screws on the hinges of my glasses and spare screws. I have never needed to use it to adjust or repair my glasses. Don't know why i pack it but i always do.

This has been on just about every trip with us since we bought it in 1988. (cleaned out and refilled.)

We took a 3 night Silverwings charter to Reno for our honeymoon and stayed at the Comstock Casino. ($199 each - flight, transfers and hotel included!!)

In my excitement I forgot conditioner and bought this at a little C-store for I think $3.89. Shampoo on one side and conditioner on the other. It's been handy beyond belief! And we consider it a good luck charm - of course ;)

    118563525_745161696275753_2808801721410440087_n.jpg

It did go missing for a couple years though. My teenage daughter asked to borrow it for a trip and we thought it never came back. I jokingly whined how she had lost a family treasure - but soon got over it. I was thrilled when she found it in her room a couple years later. It was like reuniting with an old friend!!

It's in our Vegas bag now and we don't have to lend it out anymore :)

Us too. It's come in handy!

Something unusual because it is something you see in the minority of people that I pack is a fanny pack. :haha: It is just too convenient and safe to keep my jackpots away from pick pockets lol don't mind if I look touristy.

I also pack my laptop hdmi adapter to hook up to hotel TV screens every trip.

It's been awhile, since I packed a fanny pack. :D Although, I do pack a small sling bag that doubles as my camera bag which replaced the former fanny pack. LOL I also pack a smaller belt pack for when I want to travel light that has enough space to carry my iPhone, a 10K mAh power bank, cables, and extra batteries for my camera.

@Cageet mentioned packing a mini screwdriver and spare screws for glasses. I do the same. I'm blind as a bat without my glasses, so I always pack a spare pair and I purchased a small repair kit with extra parts including a mini screwdriver, screws, and nose pads. Those plastic nose pads tend to break occasionally and screws do loosen over time, so I've made use of that kit on few occasions while traveling. In my checkin bag, I also pack a leatherman multitool which also comes in handy.

Not just Vegas, but trips in general... I have an "emergency" envelope that I bury away for a worst-case scenario. It contains two key things... photocopies of my IDs (with printed selfies of me holding each ID, to prove the photocopies weren't just pulled from the dark web), and a blank SIM card from my mobile carrier. If I lose my IDs, I have a solid backup copy. If I lose my phone, all I have to do is buy an unlocked GSM phone, install the blank SIM, and have my carrier transfer my service to that SIM's serial number. Losing IDs and losing your phone (especially as a foreigner, meaning I can't just hit up an AT&T/Verizon store) are just about the worst-case scenarios... so those things are my precautions against such events.

I also pack a small pair of safety scissors. TSA will allow it, as long as the blade is less than four inches from the pivot point. Whether to cut an admission wristband, a clothing tag, or even a snack package... just about every trip I've been on, I wished I had a pair of scissors. Really comes in handy, as opposed to going the "nail clippers" route.

I'm also going to start packing a bright LED flashlight on all trips to inspect mattress corners for bed bugs. I had my very first bed bug scare last year... and after doing all of the related research to understand how devastating of a problem it can be (plus how no hotel is truly immune to it), it's become abundantly clear to me that two minutes to check before getting settled into a hotel room can prevent a rather troublesome saga upon getting home.

I guess this isn't unusual but whilst I'm a US citizen, I always bring my passport (in addition to my license). I know one day I'll lose one or the other while vacationing, so I suppose it's a "back-up" ID. Plus, you need a Real-ID to travel beginning October I believe so until I brave the DMV for a renewal, the passport will be my only way to travel lol.

The most unusual thing I bring is myself! :faint:

I bring along a little notepad for doodling on the plane or for leaving thank-you notes for housekeeping, making Walgreens shopping lists, etc.

I pack a fresh kitchen garbage bag for storing my laundry.
Also, those tiny cologne sampler bottles the department stores sometimes give away are great for trips.

I always pack a corkscrew and a 75 watt light bulb. I've rarely seen a hotel room with decent lighting. Once I'm in town, I stop by a Dollar store. I pick up cheap snacks, but most important, a cocktail glass and a wine glass. After an episode of Dateline years ago depicting methods houskeeping used to clean glasses, I wouldn't touch one much less drink out of it. Many offer plastic now, but who wants to drink out of plastic?
