    My Trip Report

Howdy everyone. My name is Dave and I have only posted two trip reports in the past but thought I’d try the semi-live deal this time around. The most interesting report would have to be the trip to Paris during the MB shooting a couple of years ago which is linked here.

A little about me. I’m a native Texan from Fort Worth and now living in McKinney so I’ve lived in the DFW metroplex my entire life with the exception of my college years at Texas A&M University down in College Station (Whoop!) and have taken around 50 trips to Vegas. My first trip was when I was 21 years old and I went with my Mother and now late Father and stayed at the Stardust. My Dad loved Vegas and got to go for work about once per year but that was sadly the only time I was able to share in his love for Vegas.

I have a wonderful wife of almost 18 years and an awesome 15 year old son. My wife does not enjoy gambling so almost all of my trips have been with buddies from work or from college. My wife and I have only been to Vegas once together on Super Bowl weekend last year. The main reason for that trip was to go to see Van Morrison in concert with our neighbors and definitely the trip with the least gambling I have ever had. Fortunately my wife is understanding of my love of Vegas and puts up with my semi-annual trips with the guys.

My main hobby is making jewelry out of coins and I usually carry one or two with me for luck so I'll be bringing one or more of these with me. Hopefully they'll bring some luck!

This trip is kind of a bonus trip, as I still plan to go on my normal Summer and Fall trips later this year. My buddy Travis will be going with me on this trip. Travis is from Houston and his Dad passed away late last year. Apparently Travis’ Dad really loved Vegas and used to go there quite a bit when Travis was younger so I told him we would need to have a few Old Fashioneds (or would it be Olds Fashioned?) in his honor the next time we were in Vegas together.

A couple of months ago I received an email offer from CET with some freeplay for the week after the SB and sent it to Travis on a whim, to see if he wanted to plan an impromptu trip. Surprisingly he jumped at it so here we go with a somewhat spontaneous trip in February! I’m happy because I’ve been anxious to get back after the success I had on VP last October. I didn’t write up a trip report for that one but did describe the VP wins on another thread, linked here.

We are staying at Paris which has become my favorite place on the Strip. I love the location, think the casino is beautiful and has reasonable table limits most of the time.

The general plan for this trip is:

Fly into Vegas late morning on Friday 2/7/20

    Stay at Paris

    Gamble primarily at CET properties

Lots of Craps, probably a good mix of playing with and against the dice

Lots of VP, primarily Ultimate X DDB

    Lots of bourbon

Lots of good times with my good friend Travis

A trip downtown for some craps sessions at Binions, Golden Gate and others

A vodka gimlet or three in my Dad’s honor (his favorite)

A good steak dinner with my Diamond dinner certificate

    A buffet or two

    More bourbon

    Possibly a Golden Knights game?

    Sports bets on hockey

Having a few drinks at the Bally's Lobby Bar that we enjoy

Some 3 Card Poker at the Party Pit at Paris or PH

Flying home mid afternoon on Tuesday 2/11/20 :(

I am an avid reader so always have my Kindle with me for times when the tables and machines are cold and I need to take a break. I have no problem eating alone so do that quite frequently and get a lot of reading in here at home that way. If I can’t find Travis and need to get some food at least I’ll have my books with me! I have set a goal of reading 85 books this year - read 82 last year.

I have not tried to do one of these live before so I’m not sure how verbose I will be when having to use the mini keyboard on my phone but I do like to take a lot of photos so hopefully I’ll make semi-frequent but short posts to keep things moving.

Here are the requisite photos of one of the pets who will be staying behind with the family while I’m relaxing in Vegas.

    French bulldog Tobias

Thanks for reading and hopefully the report won't totally fall apart as we go.

    Dave

Thanks! He's our first ever dog so it's been fun and a learning experience for us! My wife and I both grew up with cats and we have 2 Tabby cats as well. Tobias has definitely added a lot of comedy to our lives!

    Thanks!

    Thank you!

Hopefully I'll have another nice hit like this one on 3 Card from a few years ago. Too bad the cards didn't come out in slightly different order so I would have hit the 3 card SF, but the 5 card was awesome. I was the only player at the table so the dealer and I celebrated together. LOL

I can hear Tobias say NO don’t leave me. What a cutie. Don’t know if you’ve been to a Golden Knights game before. I would suggest some cheap foam ear plugs. It is extremely loud. Deafening - my ears rang for over 24 hours. Vegas loves their hockey team and the noise never stops— never. We went last year and saw them play the Dallas Stars. The Stars started out good but ended with a big fizzle.

Thanks for the advice! I have not been to a knights game yet but would love to go if I can snag a last minute ticket.

Had an interesting uber ride to Love Field. Driver told me stories about driving hookers, girls masturbating in his car, astral projection and aliens. I feel like I'm in Vegas already! Lol

Back in LAS! I lead the team that designed and installed the cellphone system at McCarran so that is the reason for the picture of the antennas in the third one.

Room was ready. For a corner room so it had windows on two sides which is nice. Has a small hallway with a 90 degree turn to the door.

    Now down to find travis!
