As many of you know, I quite like playing at the Longhorn. I'm staying there for the first time on my upcoming trip... and while I don't have any immediate issues with it since it's only a crashpad for one night, I'm thinking that for future trips it may be better to stay at Eastside Cannery for both the nicer rooms, and what appear to be pretty good views of the desert, particularly from the corner rooms - while still playing primarily at Longhorn.

However, I'm only saying this speculatively... as pictures only tell you so much. Can anyone speak to how the rooms are at Eastside Cannery, and what the experience of staying there is like?

Also welcoming commentary on Longhorn's rooms, no matter how judgemental they may be :)

I don’t know about the Eastside Cannery but I think Sam’s Town rooms are nice and it’s close too

I've stayed there twice, and I really like it there. My curiosity is built around proximity to the Longhorn though. I don't drive, so walking or Uber/Lyft would be my only realistic options for getting back and forth... and that's not a walk I'd want to do at night.

It’s a 5 minute walk further than EC on the same side of the street.

I walk from EC to Sam’s all the time

I've done it multiple times while staying at or visiting Sam's. I know it isn't a long walk. My point is that at night it isn't a particularly safe stretch, being poorly lit and with virtually no pedestrian traffic. So I'd gladly walk back and forth all day, but if I'm playing at Longhorn and staying at Sam's, and it's 2:00 am and I've had several drinks, I'm not comfortable stumbling up there in the dark by myself... whereas Eastside Cannery is right across the street.

Nothing helpful to add but gotta say I find it very cool that you are getting around all over the place in Vegas. If you do a TR please take a lot of pics around Longhorn! Love it when people post pics from these out of the way local casinos.

Thanks for the kind words! You’ll be in for a treat. Aside from footage at and close to Longhorn, I’m also doing an expedition down the highway... which will include photos of the gambling term street names in that cluster of residential streets northwest of Boulder/Tropicana, Juan’s Cantina, Emerald Island, Rainbow Club, Eldorado, Lovelady Brewing, Jokers Wild, and probably Skyline too.... all in the same morning/afternoon.

Oh my. That’s a shame. That has me tempted to switch my booking to Eastside Cannery. But honestly, that hotel night is going to be less than 12 hours of a crash pad, and even if this was my only shot at staying at EC, I’d barely be able to enjoy the room or the views. Crossing my fingers that it will be around for my summer trip...

Jokers wild has an awesome breakfast special for $2.49 6a.m-11a.m daily. Bacon or sausage, 2 eggs, hash browns and toast.

Thanks for pointing that out! I do recall seeing an exceptionally priced breakfast on their website and that must be it.

I’ve already planned my morning around hitting Juan’s Flaming Fajitas Cantina right when they open at 11:00 though.

I do want to try that breakfast special one day though. To me, it defines exactly what a casino coffee shop should be all about. Simple, no nonsense, to the point, and priced accordingly. If you want bacon and eggs at a place like Aria, you’re looking at a $25+ meal.

It's been a few years since I stayed at Eastside Cannery but I was very pleased with the room I had. It was similar to Southpoint in colors (browns) and quality was as good as Southpoint (which I liked very much). I thought it was nicer than several rooms I had paid much more for on the Strip (like Ballys, Flamingo, etc). I would not hesitate to stay at Eastside. Price was much better than Strip rooms too.

The full view windows at EC are nice. I found the rooms very nice and if memory correct it had a fridge. They had a room set up(fitness room) that had coffee in the morning(free). The one draw back was the soap and shampoo dispensers in the shower. Now this was all pre Boyd ownership. I like the casino as it is spread out and not crowded. But I know a lot of changes are happening as Boyd decides why they bought it

Eastside Cannery rooms were very nice a couple of years ago...big and clean with good views. I think it's pretty quiet there now with the sportsbook and steakhouse closing. When you are on your casino tour, venture off boulder by 30 seconds and hit the Fortune and Klondike Sunset. The KS has my favorite cheapo breakfast m-f. The Rainbow in DT henderson is a real throwback.

EC used to be my hotel of choice a few years back. Back then I rented a car and did Boulder Highway along with DT. Out of everything available in the area - EC was the nicest by far. I really liked the regular room layout. The only negatives I hear about are the dying restaurants/casino on the property. Sounds like you just want the room and I don't think you can go wrong with that!

I went in there earlier this year and it was a ghost town. It’s too bad

I haven't checked recently but I think TripAdvisor shows pictures of the rooms at EC and Longhorn.

    **edited

Just checked, TripAdvisor has many pictures of EC but no room pictures of Longhorn. Maybe NFC can post pictures on TA of his stay at Longhorn.
